minor hockey in the US and Canada

An odd question I know, but could anybody direct or assist me in how I would go about figuring out how many minor hockey teams there are in the US and in Canada?

You could probably find out from USA Hockey and Hockey Canada. If it's not online, I imagine a phone call or two to their offices would do it.
