This is great news for Team Canada even though I don't think a spot will be handed to him, I hope he performs well. I would like to see him on Ovechkin if the time comes.

if the NHL releases the player to Canada then the spot is handed to him, you wouldn't see an NHLer get cut from a junior tournament.

Pretty classy move by the Wild. So he misses a few games. It'll be more than worth it in the end.

You are probably right but Burns isn't the most offensive forward to choose on the large ice surface and he is just comming off an injury.

YAY!

Too bad PMB isn't going to go but he's injured.

Burns has pneumonia or had it, I don't know if he still does or doesn't.

He'll be good on the 3rd or 4th line...

This is very good for Canada.

Burns should be able to become a piece on Canada's checking line. He was already a good two way forward before playing in the NHL and now that he's had some two months of tutoring from defensive genious Jacques Lemaire, he should have improved even more.

I'd love to see him on a line with Daniel Paille.

Chicago loaned Daniel Cleary several years back and he was cut

That was Daniel Cleary, whom throughout his young career so far has had very little good said about his work ethic.

Burns is a heart and soul player who is all about work ethic.

Totally different players and different situations IMO. Burns is a lock.

Thats not accurate. He was sent back to Bellville before the camp.

Who says he's going to make it?

Just because he's in the nhl shouldn't give him a free pass onto the team.

Wasn't Kris Beech cut, having had 4 NHL games to his resume?

But he was back in junior at the time. he only played the NHL games at the beginning of the year.

But that was bs when he got cut anyways!

Brock - I agree that Burns is a completely different player than Cleary. I look forward to seeing him play for team Canada and expect him to make the team. However, the spot is not handed to him, contrary to what Moosefan said.
