Milt Dunnell hits the century mark Christmas Eve, it merely will provide further evidence of his ability to stymie the oddsmakers.
One normally does not celebrate milestones of fellow sportswriters, but this is different. Hitting 100 is one thing. A legend doing it is another.
By any measure, the former Toronto Star sports editor was simply Canada's top sports columnist for more than half a century.
When Canada's male athlete of the century came down to Lionel Conacher, the athlete of the first half of the century, and Wayne Gretzky, Dunnell was unhesitating in his opinion. He'd covered both. Gretzky, he said.
