I think this sums it up. Consistency.
Hilarious to see people trying to argue consistency in this instance. This is like trying to compare a car hitting another car going 50 to a car that decided to inch forward and ended up bumping another car.

The situations are not even remotely comparable in terms of velocity, force of impact and chance for damage done.

Except one was an intent to injure and the Doughty hit was the result of a hockey play. Kind of ironic that the DOPS looks the other way when this is clearly an attempt to injure by making contact with a players head, something that they are trying to remove from the game.

mcnabb set a moving screen and kopitar ran into it. Mcnabb may have caught his head but kopitar initiated the contact by running into mcnabb. Could have called mcnabb for the moving screen but headshots are when players launch into other players heads.

LOL. this may be the worst hockey play "analysis" I've ever read. or are you just trolling? (good one, eh!)

Mcnabb wasn’t even skating at kopitar there

?? McNabb turned to his right, right towards Kopitar, then he gave him a head shot. Have you watched the video? LOL...

Kopitar had even put his head down a bit, like he was going for a line change, then he got elbowed in the face for some reason.

If kopitar wasn’t moving would the contact have occurred? Kopitar was skating with his head down, mcnabb noticed he wasn’t looking and got in his way and popped him, but mcnabb had 0 momentum going towards kopitar. The force of that impact was 100% kopitars skating. Tbh this play is pretty mundane.

and if Kopitar hadn't been born, this wouldn't have happened either.

Calling this attempt to injure is comical too

For all the reasons previously outlined.

I don’t think doughty deserved a suspension for his hit. It was borderline. This? So any time someone gets hit in the head no matter how hard its suspendable? How hard was kopitar really hit there? All I’m saying is kopitar wasn’t skating particularly fast, the other guy was coasting across the ice at a snails pace impeding kopitar. And kopitar ran into him. Moving screen, maybe a minor for interference, that’s all

The issue here is contact to the head, not velocity. And if you want to consider intention, Dought’s hit was questionable, whereas McNabb’s was obviously intentional. Let’s face it, it was the equivalent of a sucker punch. Getting hit in unexpectedly in the face with an elbow or forearm could potentially end a career. It’s unfortunate for the Kings that Kopitar didn’t play it up, and fall on the ice, followed up with a trip to the locker room.

Interference minor from what we can see. Hell, I had to watch 3 or 4 times before I saw it at all

If there's a shot that Kopitar should have issue with is the one where Haula??? is on the ice and he butt ends Kopitar in the jaw with his stick.

That's freakin dangerous

Came here to say the same thing.

How is this thread still going? And how isn't there one about the butt end to Kopitar's face?

The pacification of the NHL and their fans complaining over a minor interference call amazes me!

Was it a butt end? Almost impossible to tell. The butt end of the stick certainly wasn't sticking out. He also had one hand on his stick... Looked more inadvertent than anything. Kopitar had just buried him with a few crosschecks and had his stick in the small of his back. He was trying to push him off to get up and caught him in the cheek.
