At the draft, I'd trade Zuccarello, Namestnikov, Hayes Shattenkirk and Spooner. There is no point in keeping these players. Be as bad as possible, don't keep mid 20's/late 20's/early 30's assets.

This is something that definitely came into play. He's been hurt all season. We sold low on him, unfortunately.

That's how I feel at the moment. Not a fan right now, but I'll be okay with the return soon enough.

It's not as bad as it first looks. Just pretty crazy that SY kept all of his premium assets.

Unless we were going to trade him to Montreal (or somewhere else), why would we want Johnson? He's 27 and has 6 years left on his deal. He doesn't fit the age we are going for. He'll be 30 (or older) by the time we are ready to compete. If we want older vets, we can add them through free agency.

Crazy to see how much this roster has been blown up the past 3 years. At the 04 deadline, other then Leetch and Nedved most of those guys were mercenaries. Then we had the year off and the season of Jagr and Lundqvist. Next year is going to be quite jarring.

The other important thing to keep in mind is that Tampa’s scouting has been phenomenal these last few years.

I’ve collected myself a bit, and think it’s a solid deal. I’m clearly sleeping on Namestnikov, but said I’d be happy with Howden+Foote+1st for McD. That’s what they essentially got. Miller for Namestnikov and a conditional 2nd that can become a 1st.

Gorton’s trying to build this through the draft. This current nucleus is better than what we had going into the Black & Blueshirt era.

I knew about Howden, watched him play and remember he was just fine. Personally, I don't know how to project/guess a player's development/ceiling/worth. I will choose to be optimistic.
