Ovechkin can atleast make playoffs lol. McDavid can't will his team to the playoffs like an Ovechkin, Crosby or Matthews.

Matthews is a great player with an exciting future, but can we wait until he does something worth noting before including him in biased statements like this? He has a 1st round exist under his belt.

McDavid has an 100pts Art winning season. That's noteworthy.

Neither has anything noteworthy in the playoffs.

OV was as good as he was in the regular season in his first 3 or 4 seasons. That's better than McDavid's only appearance.

Wtf kind of argument is this? Crosby getting 102 points in his first season still wasn't enough to propel the pens to the playoffs, as the pens finished 2nd last in the league. It takes more than one player to "will their team to the playoffs." Pretty cute that you're trying to add Matthews to the conversation with these other 3 players. Laine's better than Matthews.

Well McDavid has help too. Did you forget about Drai? Also McDavid has only made the playoffs 33% of the seasons he has been in the league. Unless that changes he should not be mentioned with Ovechkin.

I was referring to Matthews. :)

Do you aim to make irrelevant statements?

Nothing he said was wrong.

Sure there was. There are many examples of players having incredible seasons cut short by injuries. It doesn't mean that we should take their raw points as gospel. Do you think Mario is given credit for only winning the Art Ross in 92/93 by 12 points? Do you think McDavid was not a Top 100 player in his rookie year based on his 109th scoring finish? It should be obvious to everyone that Crosby had two potential peak seasons cut short by unlucky injuries and will maybe go down as the best player to not be able to put a full season at his peak.

It would be silly to presume that McDavid meets the same fate. So whatever you think his offensive ceiling is, it is unreasonable to think he won't reach it because of injuries.

That wasn't the argument. The argument was that OV's 106 points > McDavid's 100 points.
Why are you reading only what you want to read? I was replying to how you were using point finishes to compare their seasons which is flawed in itself because it assumes that every season is the same. He may not have been close to Thornton and Jagr points wise but he also had much less help to work with.

Also, Ovechkin was better in his rookie season than McDavid last season just solely on what he did with who he had to work with. He scored almost as many goals as his next closest teammate had points in total.

Uhhhh......I read what you wrote and responded accordingly:

"You can't just compare point finishes as if every year is the same and I doubt many people would disagree that Jagr and Thornton that season were better than McDavid last season."

McDavid was statistically more productive offensively than OV was in his rookie year based on how he measured up vs. the pack of Top 10-20 scorers.
