This guy sucks! Ha-ha... OK, I'm not good at those kinds of player bashing posts. No, seriously, I like Patches and really hoped he could break out this playoffs. But, yeah, as he's never shown the ability to step it up in these crucial moments, especially being the captain and all, something needs to give.

Pretty sure this dude will be on fire to start the 2017-18 season.

Probably will score the first goal in the very first minute vs the Leafs on day 1.

Then he would go on to score 30 more goals to finish the year.

But it wouldn't really matter to me anymore.

Because once the playoffs start, he'd just disappear..

Even when healthy has has no business being on this team. You can't build a team with sniper-winger as your leaders. Look at the Caps, they have Ovechkin, it doesn't work for them in the playoffs.

You look at other teams, they have powerful centers as part of their leadership group. Joe Pavelski, Malkin, Kopitar, Toews, Bergeron. These are the players that make those teams contenders every year despite sometimes lacking other elements

If you're not going to add a big center and another strong leader to help patches on and off the ice you have no business keeping pacioretty on your team, you're wasting everyone's time.

Did Pacioretty play worse than Galchenyuk, the "big #1 center" the Habs drafted with their highest pick in many years? He may have had a better season than Yakupov, but that isn't saying much.

Danault was fair, not great. However, there's no one on the AHL feeder team who's better than he is. Hudon or DLR? Don't make me barf! Vomitus has an acrid taste.

Pacioretty (after the series' loss to Rangers):

''it's a process...we're hiring the right people...we have the right people...the process is looking good...we didn't get the end results, but...it's all about the process...''

Pacioretty actually looked kind of happy while saying all that (stuff about the ''process''), well...he definitely didn't look his usual miserable/grouchy self during this interview. He almost looked happy it was over. He must really like golf or whatever he will get to now. Good for him. Good for our Hab fans. Good for our Cupless drought.

It's all a process after all...it's not about winning CUPS anymore (that was a long time ago now, since Tremblay's ego forced Roy out). It's all about how happy Pacioretty is about the process (he's still enjoying the fact that PK Subban is not part of the team anymore...the last player to really help this team get to TWO Conference Finals, but this team doesn't want to keep playoff stars like Subban AND dmen with playoff warrior potential like Ryan McDonagh). Really hope Pacioretty is our captain for 7 more seasons...for those who don't mind the torture. It still pisses me off...the thought of having Subban and McDonagh still here and making our team contenders (every season) for a long long time. Was too good to be true.

Pacioretty the worst captain in the history of the Habs? No-brainer. How can a playoffs-Gallagher stand to be part of a team that has a floater like Pacioretty on it...I couldn't accept it.

Go McDavid Go!!
Go Oilers Go!!
(Maple-Leaves? Why? Oilers are way more exciting to watch...Oilers need more love in the Out of Town thread).

Pacioretty did play worse than Galchenyuk, Galchenyuk was bad, but he wasn't put in a good situation either. Pacioretty has no real excuse, Danault wasn't helping him, but we shouldn't be expecting Danault to lead the line.

Truth of the matter is that he should've never been named Captain in the first place. He doesn't have the character for it and never will. He's a good streaky goal scorer and that's it. He'll never be able to rally a whole locker room behind him, because he's a reserved guy who can't exhibit and inspire confidence. It's not his fault. That's just the way he is.

But if he was really named captain by the majority of the team back in 2015, I guess we have the dumbest team, top to bottom, in the league.

Complete collapse last year in his first year as captain. To add insult to injury, management publicly stated leadership as a big reason why it happened and so traded local hero for the leader of all leaders.
Well, so much for that, yet another collapse happens in year 2 of his captaincy, this time forcing management to fire the coach. Early PO. exit.

Ya...really not a good two years.

His playoff record does put him into 2nd line material. But, in the regular season I do agree with you that he's a first line player, but he's not the player that "makes" that line work on a good team. Thank god we had Radulov, who carried the line and allowed to to function.

Radulov-Danault-Pacioretty was a competent 1st line, but you need better than competant when your 2nd line is really a 3rd line, and your 3rd line is a 4th line.

They also have Backstrom and Kusnetsov. Backstrom is an amazing hockey player. Both would be #1 on this team and many other clubs. Hell Id take Beagle/Eller over Plekanec.

The only type of wingers who make viable captains are physical power forward types who want to smash defenders in the corners as much as they want to score goals.

He's an excellent goal scorer but you can't have him in your top 4 players if you want to win a cup.

Even the best wingers are incredibly easy to shut down when they don't have a playmaking center.

When your number one offensive talent is a winger with limited other offensive options... your teams ****ed

I watched it for years with Alfredsson... he was a playoff choker and then when Ottawa got the 1C and a few other offensive options he exploded
