OT Losses aren't counted. His record is:I thought that Tampa was the record setter. Did I miscount, or did that not count because it was an OT loss?
W | L | T | OTL | Pts% |

Don’t all the others in this category have Cups? Hasn’t Maurice only ever been out of the 1st round of the playoffs 2 or 3 times. One of these is not like the others. In a game of wins and losses and hiring and firing, having the most losses in history means you've coached more in the big time than 99% of your peers. So it really is congratulations Paul.

But what's his next milestone? He already has the least playoff appearances by anyone that's been the the league about as long as he has by a huge margin.
Wait. Isn’t Mauricebenefitting from the stupid OTL rule? At least compared to coaches who came before him? If OTL aren’t counted against him, then his real winning percentage is really nowhere near 500 right?
He certainly did, that would count as making it out of the 1st round of the playoffs, he only made it out of the 1sr round one other time. Paul Maurice coached teams tend to not make the playoffs or take round 1 exits. In this his 22nd year of NHL coaching he has been beyond round 1 just twice. Granted some years he was fired before he had an opportunity to make the playoffs.Maurice made it to the finals with the Hurricanes when they were swept by Detroit.
