From the losing team's perspective, an OTL is no different than getting a tie under the old system. They still get a point. A loss to me is zero points from the game. New rules: any discussion of fake vs real .500 opens the door to rehashing the expansion draft.

He certainly did, that would count as making it out of the 1st round of the playoffs, he only made it out of the 1sr round one other time. Paul Maurice coached teams tend to not make the playoffs or take round 1 exits. In this his 22nd year of NHL coaching he has been beyond round 1 just twice. Granted some years he was fired before he had an opportunity to make the playoffs.
