Amazing game. Was in class so I couldn't watch it with sound, but seei g the domination was more than enough!

Loving our young core. Thinking we can do some damage from now until the forseeable future.

Great game by the Leafs. Let's be honest, the Preds didn't skate or play that well, but we've matched up well against them this year so I wouldn't be that worried if we meet them down the line! :)

Makes me yearn for that big run the Leafs went on over 10 years ago when they won like 10 out of 11 in the final stretch and it came down to the last game of the season between NJ and the Islanders (we needed NJ to win for us to make the playoffs and they didn't start Brodeur and NJ lost in the shootout). I watched 3 or 4 of the games in shady off-strip casinos during a Vegas vacation. One of the most exciting stretches of Leafs hockey ever.

Weird that missing the playoffs made me more excited than having a great team effectively clinch with weeks and weeks remaining.

Rielly's quietly having a heck of a season. On pace to top 50 points, and getting among the very toughest minutes in the entire league.

IMO points production + QoC should be the criterion for Norris. Rielly is going to be short changed because the criterion for Norris is just production - It is friggen stupid

We are a 10x better team without Komarov, and I hope people realize it now.

Komarov was a great solider for us, but what I(and many others here) know is that:

His defensive play is overrated
His penalty killing is overrated
He slows down his line

We've played 3 dominating games in a row without the guy, not all because he was out of the line up, but it's because the players that replace him are much better than him(Leivo and Johnsson), and that helps a lot.

I’ve really like Leo on that 4th line, however I do hope the one benefit of his recent injury has shown the team in terms of the big picture he is replaceable

The Norris should just be for "Best Defenseman", with selection based on votes, and a Paul Coffey or Bobby Orr Award should be introduced and given to the highest-scoring Defenseman each year.

This win removes some of the the saltiness from the TB game. Some of it, but not all.

That said this shows how good we can actually be if everything goes well, which it did.

komarov is overrated as a penalty killer.

he's simply doesn't have the foot speed required to close out on the point.

Komarov makes it look like there's a lot going on when he's skating around, but it's just a lot of mucking about.

if I was babs the only thing I would try and get across right now is that Kap and Nylander have to start shooting more. Both seem to interested in passing when they have a bead on the net, They both have great shots.. also where we differ from a lot of the other teams is if hyman gets another 4 points we will have 10 players with 40 or more . we really do everything by committee

Last night's game is a reminder why Matthews was the right choice over Laine. 200 foot super skilled player who makes players around him better versus a skilled, pure goal scorer.
I don't think you're going to find any Leafs fan that would take Laine over Matthews. Ever. Even if Laine ends up being a perennial 60 goal guy. He doesn't help us anywhere near as much as Matthews does. Not to mention Laine needs players to feed him the puck. Matthews scores roughly the same amount of goals most of which are from his own doing.

So we are just one good old fashioned Tonya Harding away from a Cup?

I'd actually rather have a Selke-like trophy for d-men. The idea behind adding another trophy is to catch those that go unappreciated by the main one. That's the more defensively inclined ones in this case, not the other way around. We don't need a trophy to make sure Erik Karlsson gets recognition.

I just figured that having 2 separate awards would help currently underappreciated Defenseman win the Norris, which should still be the more highly-regarded of the 2, as far as I'm concerned. Introducing the 2nd trophy is less about making sure Karlsson gets recognition, and is more about recognizing that Karlsson's possibly only getting the current recognition because there's no other trophy more befitting him.

The Norris is supposed to be awarded to the "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position" - Rather than changing the definition of the Norris, honour it.

As per HockeyViz, our player usage last night against Nashville. Pretty interesting.

I wouldn't mind Komarov at C on the 4th line. Johnsson-Komarov-Kapanen would be fine and let Leo hang further back to avoid having his footspeed exposed.

Only thing is it makes Lou look bad for wasting a 2nd on Plekanec.

The Leafs still have a 2nd round pick this year they got from San Jose in 2016 when Polak was traded to them. So it's not like they are not without a 2nd round pick in general.

Yeah it's just a shame to waste an extra Korshkov/Bracco/Grundstrom tier prospect on a guy who's hurt us more than he's helped so far, especially when we had in-house solutions.

Plus there's the off-chance that pick could have been a Dermott-level guy or a high end goalie prospect.

I can see that point of view, however I say the trade would look a lot worse if they didn't have that extra 2nd round pick. Although who knows what trades could happen and the Leafs might get more 2nd round picks.

I am not a Leo fan but somebody needs to try to neutralise Marchand if we meet the Bruins in round #1. Every Bruin game I watch Marchand is the straw that stirs the drink. Leo is our best candidate to get Marchand off his game.
