Can you explain me what is a dynasty league?
Is it like a simulated hockey league?
What is the difference...
Dynasty League... I hope I can do this particular league justice, so here goes:
The Great Canadian Hockey League consists of three seperate leagues, aptly named L1, L2 and L3, of which I participate in L3... Currently there are no openings, no plans to add another league and requests for teams are being accepted, but only the commisioner knows what happens from that point on...
Each team consists of a PRO roster, a FARM roster and a ROOKIE roster... The Pro roster is where you draw upon your nightly players (weekly roster submittals during the league's regular season and nightly roster submittals during the post season). The Pro roster consists of no more than 3 goaltenders and any amount of skaters (F & D) for a total of 23 players (no more, no less)... Your FARM team consists of exactly 1 goalie, 4 defenseman and 6 forwards - these numbers must be met exactly... Your ROOKIE roster can have up to 10 players on it, but once a player is removed, he cannot go back... The ROOKIE roster is filled with just-drafted players (I currently have 6 ROOKIES on my roster from the last two entry drafts)...
Scoring is as follows:
Forwards get 2 point per goal, 1 point per assist... Dmen get 2 points for both goals and assists... Additional points are awarded for SH goals (and assists), as well as OT goals (and assists)... Goalies get 3 points for the win, 1 for the tie and additional points for stopping a PS or facing 34 shots in a game...
This is a head to head league (with most games going two nights, except on Saturday and that odd Wednesday)...
Playoff games are ALL two nights - playoff have just started...
You are required to submit names for your PRO and FARM teams, as well as logos, jerseys, team employees, team sponsors... All logos must be original, as well as the team names (to some extent)... You are required to write press releases when trades are made, players are sent down to the farm, or pretty much when you do something of relevance to your squad...
My league consists of 24 teams (L2 has 20 and L1 has 14 I believe)... That means that we are drawing upon over 1000 players (both in the NHL or drafted by teams)...
Its intensive, but the best league format I have ever found...
Regarding simulation leagues, this goes beyond anything I have ever been involved in... Hope this answers your question, and doesn't make a whack of you salivate to know there is a league like this out there...
