Woah, a 3 AM contract signing and ignoring a promise made to Malkin? Magnitogorsk plays dirty. Hopefully Malkin ends up winning the suit and plays in the NHL.

Thank you for linking to this translated interview.

Nice read. It's good to see Malkin himself confirm a lot of what had been assumed to be true. Magnitogorsk really comes out looking pretty bad out of all of this.

    I don't get it...

How was Malkin deceived or tricked into signing this contract?

Yes, it was at 3 in the morning, but did someone put a gun to his head.

    Serious question

Sleep deprivation. People takes bad decisions when they are heavily pressured and tired. And for the sound of it, he definitivelly was very pressured by powerful people.

    WOW!

Great that they managed to get that kid the hell outa there. The Ruskies are more than a little creepy. Wonder if he'll ever be able to go back?

It's very odd. Where was his agent when the russian team's management was weighing Malkin down with their arguments, and weren't listening to him. And just trying to picture it:

Velichkin: "Blah blah Blah blah ... politics ... Blah blah blah blah"
    Malkin: "Hold on..."
Velichkin: "Blah blah Blah blah ... NHL ... Blah blah blah blah"
    Malkin: "Listen to me..."
    Velichkin: "Sign here"
    Malkin: "Ok"
