Magnitogorsk became the first Russian club since CSKA Moscow to win the Spengler Cup. They beat Team Canada 8-3 in the final.

It seems they can win without Evgeny Malkin.

Former Red Wing Anders Eriksson had three assists for the Magnitogorsk. Ottawa prospect Alexei Kaigorodov scored a goal and had an assist.
