Idea - Whatabout also posting your team's PP and PK line-ups? The whole thing.. I mean teams can look so nice but have putrid special teams. Special teams are utterly crucial and essential during the playoffs.

First full roster ready to be critisized, heavily favorite's Detroit:

Gary Roberts - Pavel Datsyuk - Alexei Kovalev
Henrik Zetterberg - Mike Peca - Milan Hejduk
Chris Drury - Joe Nieuwendyk - Scott Walker
Sergei Brylin - Alyn McCauley - Jeff Halpern
Tomas Holmstrom

Brian Leetch - Steve Staios
Dmitri Kalinin - Rhett Warrener
Ossi Vaananen - Joni Pitkanen

Ed Belfour
Robert Esche

Everyone is in love with his squad, so I'll try to be rather pessimistic, hope S[itfire doesn't mind.. ;)

First off, I instantly notice the lack of a true elite superstar, naturally due to the fact he didn't have a 1st or a 2nd round pick. I can't recall a recent Stanley Cup winner that did not have an elite superstar (Forsberg/Sakic, Modano, Brodeur, Fedorov/Lidstrom).. It's essential, so thats critical point numero uno.

Secondly, there are a lot of older players on the team with health issue's. Now this wouldn't be much of a problem if those were to be mere roleplayers, but we're talking about the starting netminder and top flight left winger here. Roberts and Belfour are not a guarentee, yet they are heavily relied upon.

Third, his center trio might be a nice mix of skill and grit, but all three remain somewhat on the small side, and here too, have the latter two history of injuries..

Fourth; his entire 4th line consists of centers, so he has 2 players playing out of position.

Last but not least, 50% of his defense consists out of players of 25 or younger. Not sure this is all that bad, but I'm trying ot be crititcal..

Detroit is obviously one of the favourites, that being said here are the things I notice:

- ton of depth, though no real superstars

- several players who have Cup rings

- defense is good, but not great. He does have a solid mix of offensive and defensive defensemen

- I have doubts as to how many goals Hejduk would score with Peca as his center

- if Belfour went down, Esche is a very capable replacement

Good point.. Peca isn't exactly known for his playmaking skills. We'll see how he does in the playoffs (read polls)..

My forward pack is completed now (save my extra forward), be free to comment;

Mike York - Peter Forsberg - Jeff O'Neill
Ryan Smyth (A) - Mario Lemieux (C) - Petr Sykora
Jeff Friesen - Dave Scatchard - Langenbrunner
Raffi Torres - Stu Barnes - Scott Thornton

Very impressive forward set.

- Forsberg and Lemieux are obviously two of the very best playmakers in the game. There is a big injury concern though.

- You have a great amount of grit, something needed in the playoffs... Smyth, O'Neill, Scatchard, Langenbrunner, Torres, Thornton..

- 5 of your forwards are Stanley Cup winners

I like the top line, Demitra and Palffy were great in the WHC. Elias has cup expierience, great 1st line. You might have a grit problem though, but Palffy might make that up, since I haven't seen him play.

Second Line is solid, Cole brings great speed, Handzus brings a mullet and grit. Recchi brings expierience and strength.

3rd line is so-so. Rucchin is injury prone and I don't think he should be given Grind Line time. Reinprecht is good, and I don't know much about Kono, but I heard he's a great 2 way player.

4th line is good, Niko and Hinote being energy, line Taylor brings expierience.

Id give your forward corps a 8/10, the 3rd line drew me off..

Rucchin isnt injury prone. He used to be (VERY) but he has played 164 NHL games in a row now. He has played all 82 games the past 2 seasons. Rucchin was the no.1 C during Kariya/Selanne times so IMO he could handle 12-15 minutes a game.

3-4 seasons ago he was VERY injury prone but thankfully he isnt anymore.

And I took Reinprecht so I could have a Steve line (Kono, Rucchin and Reinprecht) :D .

Like jtuzzi said, a lovely top 6 but your top 6 has some uncertainties.

Your defense is well balanced. You definitely need to pick an experiened goalie though.

You will be a threat.

I've completed my starting lineup (the Rangers)...

Simon Gagne-Joe Sakic-Bill Guerin
Fredrik Modin-Patrick Marleau-Glen Murray
Ray Whitney-Marc Savard-David Vyborny
Shawn McEachern-Patrice Bergeron-Maxim Afinogenov

Mathieu Schneider-Darryl Sydor
Dick Tarnstrom-Brendan Witt
Karlis Skrastins-Tom Poti

Marty Turco
Patrick Lalime

I should be able to put the puck in the net and I'm going to have a strong power play. I lack a shutdown defenseman and a defensive 3rd or 4th line...the pressure will be on Turco to keep the puck out of the net. He'll probably face 30+ shots a night. Hopefully my offense picks him up from time-to-time. I've got enough skill up front to compete with any team but I lack grit...a tougher team will push my guys around. I really don't have an enforcer on the blueline other than Witt...some of my stars could use protection. Guerin could drop the gloves if he has to also.

Thoughts?

That first line is sick.. Heck, the 2nd line should be one of the better ones out there as well. Not too fond of your bottom 6 forwards, to be frank. They are too one sided and soft, but they do bring plenty of offense. You probably have the fastest team around. Nice mix of offense/defense on the blue line as well. Plus a nice tandem in net.
