Now that the team is set, I wonder what the lines are going to look like. Here's my guess:

Heatly-Sakic-Iginla
Bertuzzi-Thornton-Smyth
St. Louis-Lecavlier-Richards
Nash-Draper-Gagne
Doan

Pronger-Jovanovski
Niedermayer-Redden
Regher-Blake
Foote

Brodeur
Luongo
Turco

I think Smyth is much better suited to a checking role on this team. Meanwhile the Gagne-Sakic-Iginla line was dynamite together so I wouldn't break them up. This is what I would go with:

Gagne-Sakic-Iginla
Bertuzzi-Thornton-Heatly
St. Louis-Lecavlier-Richards
Nash/Doan-Draper-Smyth

The second highest goal scorer in the league on the 4th line and not even playing LW...lol

First of all, anyone who watches the Leafs on a regular basis knows that "set-lines" are just a suggestion to Pat Quinn...

I predict the lines should be:

Gagne, Sakic, Iginla
The Tampa Boys
Doan, Thornton, Nash
Heatley, Smyth, Draper

Bert is a filler

Having said that, would I love to see a Thornton, Nash, Heater line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St.Louis should not be on this team so I'll omit him from my lines.

Heatley-Sakic-Iginla
Nash-Thornton-Gagne
Richards-Lecavalier-Bertuzzi
Smyth-Draper-Doan
Staal

Neidermayer-Blake
Redden-Pronger
Jovanovski-Regehr
Foote

Brodeur
Turco
Luongo

Good team overall though. I'm glad both Bertuzzi and Nash were selected. The only thing I'd change besides dumping St.Louis would be to put Phaneuf on the roster, put Foote on the taxi-squad, and dump McCabe; and also select Madden over Draper.

Thats how I see it as well. The top fw line is a given, the 3 from TB should play well together and I think Thornton and Nash have a lot of chemistry and Heatley is on fire. THat leaves the checkin line w/ some good grinders that can also score.

The D might be changed up a bit with Foote still as the #7.

Forwards:

1) Gagne-Sakic-Iginla: They've been together before. They have great chemistry. And Gagne has rediscovered his 2002 form.
2) Heatley-Thornton-Bertuzzi: Big, strong and skilled. Heatley played LW in college. Potentially unstoppable.
3) Richards-Lecavalier-St. Louis: Richards also played LW in junior. Oodles of chemistry. Will be fun to watch.
4) Smyth-Draper-Doan: I guess this is the DDS line. Want to try to score goals on this line? Good luck. Will neutralize opponent's top forwards.
Extra: Nash.

Defence:
1) Foote-Niedermayer: They've been our top pairing at the last two big tournaments. Foote's numbers are a reflection of being on a crap team. You don't go from top defenceman at the World Cup to junk in 15 months.
2) Blake-Pronger: Big, strong, skilled. They'll be fine at the Olympics.
3) Redden-Regehr: Again, want to try to score on this tandem? Fat chance. Redden's poise will come in handy on the Olympics.
Extra: Jovanovski.

Goalies:
Brodeur
Luongo
Turco

There is no way they break up the Gagne-Sakic-Iginla line. They'd have to be crazy.

I agree with you, but they did not use that line in the World Cup. I sure would love to see it again though.

Another line with chemistry is the Thornton-Gagne-Nash line from the World Championships.

There is no way they are going to use Nash as only the 13th forward, or Jovanovski as the 7th. Jovanovski has been molded to take a bigger role on the team for awhile. The fact they were willing to put Nash on the team with almost no action this year means they are wanting his offensive skills, he will be on one of the first 3 lines for sure.

this looks good... but was it the Nash Thorton Gagne line that was great in the World Cup?

You mean World Championship. And the line was really great. But don't forget how well Gagne-Sakic-Iginla played at the '02 Olympics. Either way, you can't go wrong with either one of the combinations, imo.
