Likely Schedule? How Will They Tweak It?

I'm hearing we'll play 48 games, but no Western opponents? Will our schedule starting on the 19th of January be Buffalo, as scheduled currently? Then we cross out the few games with Western opponents, fill those in with Eastern ones plus 13 games will be added to the schedule?

If this question is a dumb one, excuse me! :shakehead I have no clue as to how they do this re-scheduling, being pretty new to the game, etc.

They will scrap every western conference game, and keep existing eastern conference games that fit. Buffalo could fit, and is probably on the proposed schedule, but nothing is official yet.

A semi-rough breakdown of opponents I've seen on twitter is 3 games each against the 10 Northeastern and Atlantic divisional teams for a total of 30 games. Then, 4 games against two Southeast division teams, and 5 against the other two.

Also, I've read the trade deadline will be pushed back to around April 5th with the regular season ending April 25th or 26th.

Take all of this with a grain of salt though as I'm going completely from memory on tweets that haven't confirmed as fact yet.

You're probably right. I might have been misremembering what I read and fudged it to represent the 50 game schedule(3 vs. 10 conference, 5 vs. 4 division). Bolded is probably where I messed up.

Thanks again, guys. I had no clue how this might work ... Just can't wait to see that first game, on TV or at the Arena. :handclap:

7 games against your division is a terrible idea, not that I'd be terribly opposed to it due to the strength of our division.

This makes me sad. I so badly wanted the 'Canes to play in Chicago against the Hawks since I just moved here. My fiancé wanted to go with me and that would've been the perfect game for it.

I actually had center ice tickets for that game. The boyfriend and I were going to be there visiting his family for Christmas and thought, what perfect timing. Thinking there was no way these people were going to have a lockout past Thanksgiving, we got tickets. Needless to say, I got the refund even though they told me I should hang onto the tickets in case it's rescheduled.

Each team plays: 4 games vs. two Divisional opponents (8); 5 games vs. two divisional opponents (10); 3 games vs 10 Conference rivals (30).

They couldn't just make it 4 versus all Divisional opponents and play a 46 game schedule...that would make too much sense.

Agreed, 5 and 50 makes sense as well...

**** you'd have a better chance of getting an invite to the Bohemian Grove than getting them to agree to a 46 or 50 game season. Hockey at the upper levels is run by masons. 33 is a number that's sacred to them so there's no way they would be foolish enough to run a 46 game season.

Aaron ward just tweeted that teams now have their schedules as of this AM, so I'd hope we see it shortly.

Leaks are happening slowly. Tentative schedule has us playing home games against the Rangers on 4/6 and 4/25. Game at Madison Square Garden on 3/18.

Keep in mind that these schedules were distributed so that teams could reply with absolutely necessary changes. The dates are not finalized and probably won't be until tonight. But as it stands, that 4/25 game would likely be our home closer.
