Yesterday certainly showed the offensive upside he still has while getting back up to speed (a classic Monahan shot + a slick rush pass is refreshing to see). Doesn't dissuade from the thoughts that he's not a top line centre, but with a more... refreshed view of expectations for him being a middle six offensive centre is where he should be with his skillset.
It doesn't 100% affirm that he will bounce back, but it's a very key first step to have a game like this with his more expanded offenisve profile (at least personally to me he looked more comfortable carrying the puck which is big relative to recent years) to show that there is that upside, that he's on a good path, and that further down the road in the season he has potential to become a solid offensive contributor
