Hockey Canada also announced that defenceman Kris Letang will be team captain, with Steve Downie, Marc Staal, Jonathan Toews and Tom Pyatt rotating as alternates.

A bit of a surprise. I thought Staal or Parent might get it, with Toews the best bet among the forwards. A great honour for Letang, but a huge responsibility, too. This will be some of the biggest pressure he'll face in his career.

Picking Captains is the one area you can be confident of that you don't have to question the coaches decision on most times.They can see from the practices and games what guys are ready and capable of leading.

If they chose Letang then he must be ready and able.Good luck to him,it's a big responsibility to captain our team at this tourney.Quebec players have done a great job at it before,i'm sure this latest representative will do so again.

I never heard of him before you mentioned him. I knew Rickard and Nicklas Wallin existed but Jesse? How did he make the Canadian Team back then? Was he a 'heart and soul' player (cause he didnt have a lot of points in the WHL)?
