One of my favourite prospects over the years. Surprising they signed him to a 2 year deal. Didn't think he had much of a future and expected a 1 year deal. Interesting. The team is pretty crowded though right now.

Everything is happening.

Good for him. People seem to not think much of him, as if he's not going to make the team and we're going to lose him. I can see him surprising a lot of people this year.

2 year deal might be for the expansion exposure requirements, but that would also mean they need to give him at least 40 games.

Is it 2-way?

Not announced yet but I will guess it's a 1 way (not that it matters much anyway).

Yeah, I highly doubt he'll be making enough for it to matter if it's 2-way or not. I'll be surprised if it's much more than $1M/Year.

Happy to have him locked up, though. He's shown some good stuff at the NHL level and has been a great piece for the Marlies the past couple of years. Would love to see him crack the roster and keep himself up.

I think he opened the eyes of some people during the playoffs, he was one of the top performers on the Marlies.

Leivo

- 2.03 goals/60 while playing for the Leafs (highest in NHL 5+ games)
- AHL playoffs, 2nd leading points on Marlies
- AHL regular season, 4th leading points on Marlies
- Good size & physical, won't back down
- showed up for the Marlie Playoffs
- 23 years old

Alright, so we have a guy who will certainly be going on as a 13th forward or even on the 4th line. Two years shows faith.

Holland still is on the way out IMO.

He played solid during the playoffs! Good power forward, hopefully he gets stronger this summer.

612,500 cap hit. Great.

1 way deal but that literally doesn't matter for a team like us. Actually it's better. Caving on giving him a 1 way in negoiations probably lowered the NHL cap hit.

2 way 800k/100k v. 1 way 600k and a player like Leivo likely takes the guaranteed 600k every day of the week.

Awesome, glad we have him back. I still really like the guy. That being said, we really have to start moving out some bodies asap... we have waaaay too much of a logjam up front.
