So trade your old guys who will be needing contracts for cost control young players. And when you do give up young players/pick you get the better moe proven young players. I dont know if you noticed, but you have these players on your top line an in the top 4. Quantity over Quality always looks good to the team getting the quality.

Not even close to the right value in return for Ristolainen. Without including Liljegren this wouldn't get you past a hang up. Also, the Sabres won't trade Ristolainen at 23 in division unless they're overly compensated. So no, this is not "remotely close".
