We've seen 16-year olds with less talent do better than this, Atas. But players mature at different times blah blah blah. Let's see what happens.

16y.o. defencemen against 20y.olds? Sorry, but I really have trouble remembering any instance. Fetisov comparisons have been thrown around and Fetisov wasn't doing anything like that at 16.

Off top of my head, Voynov played in KHL at 16.

PS Many examples from abroad. Dahlin, Boqvist, Hedman, Larsson, Brannstrom from Sweden alone.

I find it annoying when people can't even stick to the point of discussion. Are we talking about 16y.o. partcipating? NO! At age 16 Voynov played 2(!) games, good for ZERO points. 31 games the season after, good for ZERO points. What's your point? Okay, we put Knyazev on the KHL roster now for 2 games so he can have his ZERO points just like Voynov.

P.S. Great, and did they set the leagues they played in at age 16 on fire?

Voynov played for Traktor in 2006-07 season. 31 games, zero points. That was his 16 y.o. season, he is 1990 born.
Knyazev is born in 2001, his 16 y.o. season is now in 2017-18 season.

Dude, sometimes it's OK to just accept that you were wrong. 16 yo are rarity in adult leagues but it happens. And 16 y.o in J20 leagues happens even more often.

Maybe he will come to the CHL. Brandon needs a new Russian dman haha

I can see him going to the CHL next year tbh unless he has a horrible year. As long as he is on the National team he will get looks from scouts.

You said that 16 y.o against 20 y.o. is something unheard of and you can't remember other defensemen doing it.
I reminded you of Voynov.
You said, that Voynov played 2 games as 16 y.o But if 2001 born Knyazev is 16 y.o in a 2016-17 season for you, then Voynov's 16 y.o season was in 2006-07 and on 2006-07 he played 31 games. Not 2 but 31. You were wrong. Wrong that 16 y.o. against 20 y.o is unheard of, but that's OK, you don;t have to remember everything. Then wrong when you said that Voynov played 2 games.

Where? That's the point. Read my posts properly before you reply.

Knyazev is not even the only 16y.o. on the team. How could it possibly be the point of discussion?

Playing against much older players at 16 is not a rare feat. Scoring and performing on par with them is a different story. And Knyazev's performance started the whole discussion.

Voynov did play 2 games. How 'bout counting correctly? Btw it's easy math for Knyazev and Voynov are both even January born, so it is actually a good comaprison going by the years.

Now:

A 2001 born is turning 16 in 2017.
A 1990 born is rutning 16 in 2006.

In 2006 Voynov has played 2 games for Traktor's junior team, just like Knyazev is playing for the AkBars junior team.

The 31 games Voynov played the next season, so not all of them as a 16y.o.. And most importantly all of those games without scoring a point. Just like Knyazev had no points while playing against much older players.

That is what we are discussing here. And during our discussion Knyazev actually scored a goal. Voynov on the other hand went pointless for the whole campaign.

Again, give me an instance of a 16.y.o. who actually had a meaningful points production in a league with much older players so I can start expecting Knyazev to score a lot, just like some posters here.

The coach/GM is hoping to convince him to come over, says they already have another russian on the team (Kotkov) and that they are friends.

Would definitely be interesting.

In before Russian posters saying it is the worst thing possible for his development and he will never make the NHL and was never good in the first place. For real though, this is a pretty interesting move

Good to see that he is coming to the QMJHL. I remember this guy getting a lot of hype early on and some were talking about him as the best D man in the draft. Has his stock dropped a lot because it seems like a lot of guys have passed him at this point as I barely see his name mentioned.

Right now he isn't as good as his hype was. I mean, Svechnikov was hyped as well, and moving to NA didn't change anything. Right now Knyazev isn't what people expected him to become.
