3 local bands, Doll Skin, One-Eyed Doll.
Of the local bands, 2 were meh, and one was fun: Seven Days Lost.

Seven Days Lost: 6/10 Fun, energetic, got the crowd warmed up - which was their job.

Doll Skin: 7.5/10 Teenage Girls, rocking out, in the form of the Runaways. Good fun, good energy, these girls are always fun. Guess it's not accurate to call them all "teenage girls", since the oldest, Meghan, the drummer, was celebrating her 21st birthday. Love these girls, will see their show every time they're in town.

One-Eyed Doll: 10/10 This chick is un-freaking-believable in concert. Sooo much fun, really gets into the crowd and gets the crowd into the show. Will definitely see them again and again and again. 2-piece "horror-punk" band. But when the drummer gets on the guitar, the whole thing gets elevated to a ass-kicking metal show. Guy is fantastic, and truly adds another dimension to the band. My fear is that they won't be a small-time act that I can see in my local venue much longer, as they are right there, at the edge of getting the recognition they deserve.
I'd say they are the coolest rockers I've ever met, but they laughed when I said that. We agreed on "nicest rockers I'd ever met." They stayed hours after the show, taking pix, signing autographs, hugging, and sharing stories with every fan. Really down-to-earth folks. Loving, caring, enjoying life, their shows, their fans, and making everyone feel important.
I'd give them a 12/10, but that's not possible.

Against Me! - 9/10

What a show. Don't remember the last time I didn't leave the pit once for a breather, it was insanity. Got my ass kicked in there and loved every second of it. Almost cried during Black Me Out. f***.

Last week I saw We Came As Romans with The Word Alive and This Gun For Hire.
With tickets being only $22 after taxes I'll give it a 8 out of 10. Didn't know who This Gun For Hire were(they were a local band) so I checked them out on Youtube. I only listened to 1 song and I didn't like them but when they were performing, I enjoyed them more. I'm not the greatest at judging if a band sounded good or bad but We Came As Romans sounded decent and the fact that they were high energy made it great. Also grateful that W.C.A.R. and T.W.A. came to Vancouver on their off day(which explains why I Prevail was not around. Although couldn't they have had a off day and then came to Vancouver??).

Mentioned this in the Best Album thread, but I'll bring it in here:

Saw Feist at Massey Hall on 24 September. The first concert of a busy fall. Set a high bar, holy mother of god. She played for two-and-a-half consecutive hours without taking a break. Played her entire new album (which is awesome and everyone should listen to) from front-to-back, then played for another ninety minutes. The crowd was crazy into it and she put on a wonderful show.

A few days ago I saw ZAKK SABBATH, a Black Sabbath cover band fronted by Zakk Wylde. I saw them last year and knew what I was getting into, but that was a support slot and this was a headliner. Zakk has been my favorite guitarist for over 20 years, I've seen him in numerous bands and positions, and this still blew me away.

If you're a fan and this tour comes near you, do yourself a favor and go.

I think the last concert I went to would've been a Marilyn Manson show that he played at a local hockey arena. This would've been several years ago, though, because I've been too cheap to buy concert tickets/just haven't had the interest as of late.

It was quite good, and better than the first time I saw him because there were less costume changes and less breaks as a result. He's one of my favourite artists.

The best concert I've ever been to was probably NIN's Lights Over the Sky in North America tour, which I'm glad I splurged for floors for. It was incredibly good, with an unbelievable light/visual show.

Was RHCP as bad as they were in Edmonton, showing up 15 mins late and leaving 15 mins early? the stage crew walked out onto the stage during the last song, to get ready to take it down. Seen them 3 times now and probably wont see them again. Thankfully Metallica kicked ***

PVRIS 9/10 Some of the acoustics were like okay but I understand why they would put it in the show. Still an amazing show regardless. PVRIS goat.

I won tickets at the last minute yesterday, to see the Butcher Babies. Hollywood Undead headlined the (outdoor) show.

Hollywood Undead -- I'd describe them a s a hip-hop boy-band. Can't say I like hip-hop or boy-bands, so I can't rate them too high. I guess they were okay at what they do, though. Most of the music was recorded, and they weren't playing it live -- some, but not much. I give them a 5/10

Butcher Babies -- now that was a show worth seeing. High energy, full volume, kick ass chicks rocking it! Not sure they fit right with the show, though, as it was more a hip-hop crowd. I'd give them a 7.75/10

They were great. Lots of energy. Kicked out the hits. Set may have been a tad short but overall a great experience. The opening band Deerhoof was brutal.

On Friday, I saw:
Eyes Set to Kill -- They always give a good performance. 7/10
Wednesday 13
-- They always give the same performance... 7/10

On Saturday, I saw:
Sponge -- It was fun, and they played a lot of audience requests. 7/10

All 3 were fun, and worth going to, but none were amazingly awesome. Thus, 7/10 for each.

Okay, so War on Drugs was just straight up f***ing incredible. Holy crap. 2 hour set, half off Lost in the Dream and half off Deeper Understanding. Watching Adam Granduciel just jam on stage was awesome. Massey Hall was a perfect venue, every single square centimetre of the building was filled with sound. "Red Eyes" and "Under the Pressure" were the highlights for sure. Evening only had two disappointments: "In Reverse" live doesn't pack nearly as much of a punch as it does on the album, and there was no encore.

2/7 of my fall shows down. Still to go:

John K. Samson/Craig Finn - 25 October
Arcade Fire/Broken Social Scene - 3 November
Kamasi Washington - 16 November
Andy Shauf - 23 November
The National - 9 December

Nothing to Find was incredible too. I'm not going to complain much about an encore when the set is 2 hours, not to mention I had a 1.5 hour ride home and had to get up this morning. Regardless, killer show.

Yeah, I'm not salty about the lack of encore at all, was just hoping for one (they played Neil Young's "Like a Hurricane" as the encore on Saturday).

"Strangest Thing" and "Holding On" were the other two highlights for me.

10/10 Probably one of the best shows i've ever seen, and to top the night off Comfortably Numb with a nice 5 min. guitar solo.

John K. Samson tonight was absolutely unbelievable. Was standing right in front of the stage, the entire crowd sang along to every single song. Ran into him before the show started, he signed my copy of "Live at the Burton Cummings Theatre" and I snagged a photo with him. Excellent intimate show.

Jimmy Buffett at Wrigley Field over the summer. Great show and a packed house. 8.5/10. Love shows where everyone is singing along. All the standards and great tailgating. Always puts on a top notch performance. Only downside was too much Cub love shown (I'm a Dodger fan). Huey Lewis and the News opened and they were quite good, too.

Route 91 Festival. Went from one of the best weekends to the absolute worst. Still surreal that happened.

On a brighter note, I saw Breaking Benjamin just before that and they were pretty good. 8/10
