No, I intentionally vote neutral when there are Leafs fan voting options, the idea is stupid so I disrespect the process. I’m complex like that.

What does today matter if only one player is healthy, on Feb 22nd they both were.
Too bad there's not Leafs fan voting Jets option, I'm complex like that... :sarcasm:

You're only allowed to include Matthews' hot streak at the beginning of the year, not Laine's - didn't you know?

Also don’t wanna hurt the poll results to much but Laine technically is better defensively... Atleast in shot quality.. I think it’s unfair for people to assume he only plays Offence and shout Matthews because of his Two-Way ability... Anyways here’s they’re shot qaulities.

In a vacuum it’s the Jets duo for me, but if you’re building a team from scratch you have to take the one with the centre.

Big ****ing lol for you.

People like you are the reason why Leafers are so hated.

Man, I can feel your the buttocks-hurt from here. Put some Goldbond medicated cream on that, would you?

He happens to be 100% correct. They are all wingers in his comparison, so it makes more sense to compare Marner/Nylander to Laine/Ehlers.

I think the Jets wingers would win that comparison, but not by THAT much.

Laine > Nylander
Marner > Ehlers

Wake me up when Matthews is playing! I hope he's done with injuries but three different ones in a season? Injuryprone and doesn't even hit. For a big guy he seams like a weak player, doesn't he?

I guess the Jets should dump that bum Scheifele since he's been injured too and should of dumped Laine after he missed time last year too.

Really? All I can see is Jets duo beating Leafs duo.

which is unfortunate.

While Willy/Ehlers is a very close comp, it's just not fair to Laine to compare him to a center that a) faces much tougher competition, b) outproduces him, c) out posessions him.

Last 2 seasons:

Legend:

Letter Grades = Quality of Competition measured by opponents' time on ice, Converted into Letter Grades for simplicity
p60 = points per 60 minutes
p160 = primary points per 60 minutes (i.e. no secondary assists)
CF% = Corsi For Percentage (i.e. shot attempts for percentage)
xGF% = Expected Goals For Percentage (i.e. shot attempt percentage adjusted for shot quality)
In Brackets = CF% and xGF% relative to team

(all stats adjusted for zone and score)

Matthews (20): 135gms, ES 15:31 (A- qoc), 2.54p60, 2.28p160, 51.2cf% (+0.7), 52.6xgf% (+2.3) / PP 2:21, 5.50p60, 3.79p160
Scheifele (24): 129gms, ES 16:38 (A qoc), 2.51p60, 1.86p160, 50.8cf% (+1.0), 53.3xgf% (+3.1) / PP 3:07, 4.40p60, 2.43p160

2 very good #1 centers that get #1 center quality of competition. Very similar at even strength, offensively and possession wise, but Matthews with the PP edge.

Nylander (21): 150gms, ES 14:06 (B+ qoc), 2.15p60, 1.51p160, 52.0cf% (+2.0), 51.8xgf% (+1.7) / PP 2:12, 6.32p60, 5.24p160
Ehlers (21): 150gms, ES 14:30 (B+ qoc), 2.31p60, 1.82p160, 52.0cf% (+2.3), 51.5xgf% (-0.3) / PP 2:20, 3.65p60, 2.43p160

Marner (20): 146gms, ES 14:03 (B qoc), 2.13p60, 1.56p160, 50.9cf% (+0.4), 50.8xgf% (+0.2) / PP 2:17, 7.19p60, 4.67p160
Laine (19): 141gms, ES 14:21 (B+ qoc), 2.29p60, 1.87p160, 48.6cf% (-2.4), 47.7xgf% (-5.2) / PP 2:54, 5.50p60, 4.76p160

4 excellent young wingers who have played against good but not quite top competition so far. The two jets a bit more productive at even strength, the two leafs more productive on the PP. Possession wise Laine struggles a good deal more than the other 3.

And yet nothing you said is true.

Laine outproduces and outposessions Matthews. That's not even debatable, you can look the stats.

Leafs players are playing a more important role for their team and receiving more difficult match-ups.

Kudos to the Jets for having a deeper team.

I’ll take the duo with one, potentially two centres that play more significant roles for our team.

The Leafs would be worse if you swapped the pair of players, the Jets would be better.

A: There is no secret or hidden plan behind dividing it from subjective franchises, you are theorizing here because you want to cheat the vote. I doubt a marginal amount of people will vote agaisnt because they hate the Leafs, most people here have been civil and polite except for you.

B: I want to know what the total population of the poll think, what the subjective fans think and what Neutral fans think. It’s pretty simple stuff.

C: There is no playing field, it’s a poll if you don’t like it for subjective reasoning than simply don’t vote, you think there wasn’t Laine vs Matthews polls when Laine was injured last season... The answer to that is yes, yes there was.

What is stupid is to think the reasoning of the poll is stupid because it doesn’t fit your opinions and your biases... All the poll is for is for voters to simply vote properly and it’s pretty simple, no rocket science there.

As the OP I am obviously no boss or anything but thanks to all the fans who have went and voted properly(especially the Leafs and Jets fans), I thought there would be allot more guys trying to sway the vote on both sides I’m pleasantly surprised with the outcome so far, so thanks to those who voted correctly.

The only reason you want to make this poll is because;

A It annoys you that we own Winnipeg's rink (You will hear "go leafs go!" chants, and a huge celebration whenever anything pro Leaf happens in the game) when we play there because;

B we are the largest market in the NHL and that annoys you because you are one of the smallest markets. And this is likely not going to change. As I do not see any point in time where Alberta (especially Winnipeg area's ) population ever exceeds SW Ontario, specifically Toronto. So to rebel against this;

C You make silly subjective polls, comparing anyone on your team against the largest, most popular team in an effort to try to gain recognition. "Hey look at us over here!"

We see you Winnipeg. You are doing well this year. But you are and will always be small fry. Just enjoy the ride this year and prey that your team can keep the talent together long term...k? God knows you deserve to at the least win a round or two in the playoffs and see some success.

This is exactly why I suggest only comparing our players against that of teams with comparable markets because at least then I know it's not due to some inferiority complex, but rather an honest desire to compare two players subjectively.

Have a nice day, and good luck in the playoffs! I'm going to be rooting for you in the west this year!
