It's interesting to watch all these positioning moves but why would an organization want to be down to 43 contracts going into the deadline? Are the Kings planning on a wild deadline?

He does. He probably wants a chance to earn a new one. And an expansion team that's about to get their own AHL affiliate is probably his best chance of earning one since he wasn't getting the playing time in Ontario.
