It is a shame that a player who loves his country has to take such nonsense for not playing well in a couple of tournaments.

He is 23 years old for goodness sake. The Russian Hockey Federation had better smooth this over. An antic like this seems cute to many, but if Ilya walks away from Russian hockey due to his poor treatment there will be hell to pay.

The Russian national team has been around for a long time, and it will be around for a long time after Kovalchuk is done. He hasn't done anything for them and if he chooses not to play for Russia again it's more of a loss to him than it will be to Russia.

He will be back stronger than ever when new coach and management come. Which is very soon...

I hope so. He belongs in best on best tournaments when he realizes that Team Russia is more important that Ilya Kovalchuk.
