Is he coming to Las Vegas if he wants to come to the NHL until the end of time, or do our rights have an expiration date? I was under the impression we had the rights until the end of time, but some posts have led me to think I'm wrong.

Yeah, I thought there was some rule in there that let teams keep rights for perpetuity if the player never plays in the NHL. Must have read that at the same time I read that we've got the third place shot at the draft lottery for the next three years.

If you’re ever interested in the whole expansion process from inside the organization, Tom Lynn’s book is perfect. It will give some insight into everything that happens. It’s a different era (the Wild/Columbus draft,) but it’s definitely worth a read if you’re in hockey geek mode.
