I'm still leaning towards the idea that Bob might be wrong on this one. He may be a popular teammate, but if you want that right shot powerplay defenseman...he's your ticket.

It'll be interesting to get a good look at Simpson to see where he's at.

As for Klef.. hope whatever it is heals fast so he gets a full offseason in, we need him 100% from the first puck drop next year.

We are lacking in RHS Dmen and both Russell and Sekera have NMC's. If we want to upgrade our D, it would appear either Klefbom or Nurse need to be moved.

You don't move those players. You add Carlson/Green to the mix and look to move Russell and Sekera the following season

We don't have the cap space this summer to even get into discussions with those players. If money moves in this summer, there will be money moving out.

I don't think the team parts from Nurse, but I wouldn't count out a possible Klefbom deal this summer.

The guy has to heal up and come back much better next year. He was one of the worst Dmen in the entire league most of the year.

Why was he not shutdown 10 games ago ? Another testemant on how this organization makes injured players play. And this is Kevin Lowe mindset imbedded into the Oilers .

Because he asked to play and there was minimal risk of him running into further complications.

That gets pretty cap challenging.
RNH(6)-McDavid(12.5)-Pulju(900k)
Benson(900k)-Drai(8.5)-Slepy(1)
Lucic(6)-Strome(3)-x
x-Khaira(700k)-Kassian(1.9)
x

Nurse(4.5-Larsson(4.1)
Klef(4.1)-Carlson(9)
Sekera(5.5)-Russell(4)
Bear(900)

Talbot(4.1)
Backup(1)

x=1M
81.6M

Pretty tight but doable

Apparently it's been Klefbom pushing to play, not the team. Regardless though, if they knew he was likely needing surgery, they should've shut him down a long time ago.

And we run with the same under performing forwards?

Yeah I was hoping somebody would actually ask some questions about this.

If we were pushing for the playoffs, sure, play him I guess. But in this lost season? Madness.

Exactly, Green is a good short term solution. Sekera and Russel have a limited NTC next off season. There’s also a potential internal solution for the big right shot on the PP, JP. Why can’t he play that spot on the PP? You can have Klefbom on the other point.

Its been explained many times in many thread....He wanted to play and this is something that he has had for awhile. He got his injection around Christmas so there was little chance of further injury.

Why on earth would Carlson (American, used to playoffs, highly sought after) choose the Oilers? (A losing, smaller market Canadian team that has no cap space to improve in other aspects)

Mike Green I could see but Carlson's agent would just laugh at us

Green or Carlson will make up for any under performing forwards we have.
