I think it would be great to have separate thread about KHL TV markets and ratings.

TASS published some stats of KHL TV coverage on russian regional broadcasters for 15/16 season.

- total number of people watching KHL in russian regional broadcasters was 13,29M what is 1,17M more than 14/15 season.
- average share (Men 25-59) growed from 4,8% to 5,9% and average rating from 1,6% to 2,0%
- HC Sibir (total 1,940M), Avangard (1,873M), Salavat Yulaev (1,647M) are top 3 clubs

How are these numbers compare to other euro hockey leagues or russian football league? I dont want to compare it to NHL because russian sport tv market is not so developed as US/CAN.

KHL had problems with low ratings on federal tv before Chernyshenko came, dont know about regional ratings. Match TV, new federal sport channel, increased numbers from previous season (on Rossiya2), some numbers are at KHL or russian hockey websites.

EDIT:
Novosibirsk has population of 1 584 138 (whole region 2 762 237)
Omsk has population of 1 178 100 (whole region 1 978 466)
Ufa has population of 1 105 667 (whole region 4 071 064)

- total of 105M people watched KHL games at MatchTV, KHL TV and russian regional broadcasters. I dont know how they count it but Russia has cca 145M inhabitants.

russian regional broadcasters Gagarin Cup 2016

- average 20,2k fans were watching KHL regular season games at russian regional broadcasters.
- average 32,1k fans were watching KHL play off games at russian regional broadcasters.
- Bashkorostan, where is based Salavat Yulaev, had best TOTAL numbers of fans watching KHL at regional broadcasters, because played more games (19) than rivals in tv numbers.
- record happened in Novosibirsk Oblast, where 87,8k fans watching Game 2 QF among Magnitka v Sibir (99,8k fans in 3rd period)
- last season record (14/15) happened in Tatarstan where 111,6k fans watching Game 4 Finals among SKA - Ak Bars.
- over 36k (average) fans watching Sibir games in regular season, which was a record.

I am wondering how numbers would change including laola1.tv and official website of KHL if it's not included. The main customers of KHL market is surely Russians based in Russia, watching the game on TV, but I am interested to see how many people outside Russia watch - this is an important factor for a global league.

Countries where Viasat has rights, you'll probably won't get any figures. At least in Finland Viasat has never released tv ratings, because pay tv channels are not required to.

- increase of followers/fans (league accounts) from 1 337 700 (Aug 2015) to 2 022 700 (June 2016)
- +1 350 000 new fans for #KHL´s club accounts, +57%, during 15/16 season
- «ВКонтакте» most popular among KHL´s accounts, +553k for KHL&clubs accounts in 15/16
- +579k for KHL&clubs accounts in 15/16 on Twitter, total now 1 186 800
- +413k for KHL&clubs accounts in 15/16 on Instagram, total now 840 300

Some stats from MatchTV, part 1 & part 2

MatchTV is a russian federal public sports channel, which began broadcasting on November 1, 2015 when merged with Rossiya2 (public channel). Its owner is Gazprom Media Holding, whose head is Dmitry Chernyshenko. He is KHL President as well. Match TV is for free, other subchannels (Football 1-3, Our Sport etc) are paid one.

Stats for Gagarin Cup 2016 at MatchTV

- round 1 to 3, average rating increased from 1.0% (GC 2015 at Rossiya2) to 1.1%, average share increased from 3,7% to 4,0%, target group are Men 25-59

- round 1, biggest share (4,7%) was Game 7 Salavat Yulaev v Ak Bars (played 5 March)
- round 2, biggest share (5,5%) was Game 5 Avangard v Salavat Yulaev (16 March)
- round 3, biggest share (6,2%) was Game 5 Magnitka v Salavat Yulaev (31 March)
- share record on West, round 3, share (6,1%) was Game 3 CSKA v SKA (26 March)

- Final, Game 2 CSKA v Magnitka, average share 6,3% (9 April)
- Final, Game 3 CSKA v Magnitka, average share 8,1%, max share at the end of match 11,2% (11 April)
- Final, Game 6 CSKA v Magnitka, max share in overtime 12,7% (17 April)
- articles dont have info for Final Game 7 because was published before the match
