Kent Patterson, a Plymouth, MN native, is a goalie playing in the USHL for Cedar Rapids. His birthdate is the day of the cutoff for the draft, September 15 (he's a 1989 birthday). Is he eligible for the 2007 draft, or do you have to be born BY September 15 to be eligible (meaning September 14 is the last day on which you could have been born in order to qualify).

Now, for the player himself...

The kid's 17 and ranked second in the USHL in save % at .913. He posted a 20-5-3 record while splitting time with "veteran" Richard Bachman, but given his performance this season, you'd have to think he'll get every chance to be the full-time starter next season. He has very good size at 6'1" 180 lbs and I'd assume isn't done growing/filling out his frame. Has anyone seen him play before? If so, can you give a bit of a scouting report?

Thanks.

EDIT: I see he's eligible and ranked #11 among NA goalies, according to CSS. Where is he projected to go in the draft?

I like him more than being rated #11 in NA goalies.

He could be one of the top 5 or 6 goalies selected in this draft. I'm actually quite high on this kid.

3RD ROUND TO SAN JOSE.

Is that specific enough for you?

No, I'm kidding. I have not seen him first hand but hear that he is a technically sound goalie strong positional play and has a good high butterfly and his game preperation is at a pro level already. Max Giese has seen him play a few times and is pretty high on him. Max says he remainds of how Ryan Miller was so underrated in his draft year, I have to agree with him so far.
