Knowing what I know about Kazakhstan from more than a decade following them, it is not gonna happen. Foresight has not reached this part of the world and it is all about producing a result today.

I'll be generous and call Kazakshtan a two-line team, their PP with Starchenko and Mikhailis is no joke, that said Starchenko is not getting any younger. Everyone wanting/deserving, barring future injuries, is on the camp, probably only Andrei Buyalsky deserves to be there, but as it is the case every year for the past almost 20 years, if you are not a part of Astana sphere of influence today or historically, you might as well not exist.

One to watch for me is Dmitri Breus, he sort of had a breakout season and Kazakhstan badly needs all the help on D they can get.

Kazakhstan probably is the only nation bringing their absolute A roster. Safe and predictable selection, only Breus and Boiko are making their WC debut. Not much upside to this roster, but with Poland in their group they should be comfortably safe from relegation.

Kazakhstan started to enforce its own laws. They actually don't allow dual citizenship, so if you pick up Kazakhstan passport, you have to give up your other one and naturally nobody is willing to do that. Thankfully the days of 10+ foreigners on the roster are over.

According to the law that does not apply to "persons that have special merits to the Republic of Kazakhstan," which can of course be interpreted as the authorities wish.

And ''interpreted'' they have. For the second year in a row, there is 0 foreign born players roster. So we can safely conclude that chasing piece of rubber on ice isn't a special merit.

In reality Shutov is the starter, but he probably will get lit up and Boyarkin will get plenty of minutes too. No idea if any of Kazakh D qualifies for PP QB role, I imagine Orekhov will be out there because someone has to be.

I see that Kazakhtan beat GB 5:2 yesterday with Mikhailis scoring a hattrick, seems about right.

They seemingly are losing the most serviceable local players, Kazakhstan is not at the player development stage like Belarus, where Dinamo Minsk can get interesting prospects into their roster in bunches. I'm fearing an ugly foreign looking roster or they are in for even worse of a season they just had. That said it really is only the beginning of the May.

I think without Kazkhakstan kissing Russia's ass, the same thing that happened to Dinamo Riga is happening to Barys as well - they are basically on life support. Just like Riga had barely any relevant Latvian players left in the end, the same is going to happen to Barys. If everything remains as is, again judging by this proven scheme, the results will be garbage (we are deep into that stage already) and they will pull out of the league in a few years.

It might magically turn around but let's face it, it's the movie we've seen many times. With Boyarkin and Pasquale on the contract and Shutov due for a raise, he is the one that has to move.

I bet the same thing happened to Shestakov as well. After 25 point season he wanted (and is able to get) more money than his "irrelevant grinder" contract signed in 2022. And that just breaks Barys' budget. They are searching for the irrelevant grinder to replace him now.
