Maybe he pulls a Vela and gets a Cuda deal, but I don't expect much more. Hell, I don't even actually expect that. He's seemingly been a non-entity in terms of the probability of getting a Sharks contract.

He can say he wants to turn pro all he wants, but it takes the Sharks (or, assuming they jettison his rights, any one else) actually offering him a contract to make it happen.

Quinnipiac’s Priskie opting to be come a free agent

Quinnipiac, which lost two juniors to NHL contracts the previous two days, got a boost late Tuesday when junior defenseman Karlis Cukste told the coaching staff he intends to return to school for his senior season.

A strong, defensive-minded player, Cukste was a fifth-round pick of San Jose in 2015. He had two goals and 18 assists. The Sharks, who own his rights until August 2020, could still make a push to sign him this summer.

Cukste’s return is a major boost to a depleted Quinnipiac defensive core.

Staying in school

I'm not up on these things... Can you see him scoring 30 in the NHL? :sarcasm:

He's got 9 so far in 246 games. So that means he only needs to play another 7 seasons (presuming he plays every game of every season) to get there.

Oh, you meant in a season. Err........

Would love to read that scouting report

To be fair, it was his over-age season. Lots of big, strong, physical guys end up scoring boatloads of goals at that age. Scott Parker netted 30 in his last WHL season too.

Not that this is really relevant since this thread is about Cukste and he probably won't have a senior explosion (it doesn't seem to happen as often in the NCAA as it does in the CHL.)

Oh god, Scott Parker. He tried to climb into an opponent’s bench, Haley tried to pull them off of their bench... Are we 100% sure Parker isn’t Haley’s dad?
