And with the building being divided into different floors and spaces, the dream of putting a pro team there is over.

Hockey hasn't been played in Kemper since the IHL's Blades.

There's this little joint called the Sprint Center (probably T-Mobile Center in the near future you would guess) and the ECHL Mavs play in nearby Independence, Missouri.

Kansas City has no shot at getting an NHL team anytime soon but what the city does with a dumpy 40 year-old facility that hasn't been the main arena in town for more than a decade has zero relevance to the situation. It's just a way to re-purpose a large building that's been vacant the last ten years. It will house basketball courts for youth leagues, a huge indoor track, offices, commercial and retail space.

Did they not have a minor league team there just a few years ago? ECHL, UHL, something like that? It's been since the Blades I'm sure.

Absolutely loved that team, their name and logo...I wish we see that again one day, if there is ever a team name for hockey, Blades would be it...but maybe this generation of whatever you want to call these social justice warriors, maybe blades is too violent of a name now...I don't know anymore hahahah
