Why? His PDO was low which means he was unlucky and his ADV stats showed he was positive possession player that ran into some bad luck. This was a player that just scored 60pts the year before and they already lost March, Smith and possibly Vanek and Jagr. Did FLA really need the cap space? Its a 1.33 million cap hit so 4-1.33 = 2.67. Where can you get a 2.67 million dollar forward to get 40-50 pts that Jokinen was going to get.

What the **** is wrong with Tallon? He lost all of Marchessault, Smith, and Jokinen already. Jokinen put up 60 pts 2 seasons ago!

What the hell is going on in Florida.

one of two things. Either the ownership wants to slash spending, or Florida has big plans for free agency

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all of Florida's offseason moves seem like cheap team stuff. They seemed to FINALLY be putting something together and now the trimming of the fat goes into overdrive.

I can't imagine why any free agents sign there, but every few years they pay veterans to make a splash and then most of them don't finish their contract with the team.

1 explanation could be that change of game style they want to play next season. Jokinen is a garbage with for that.

That was also three years ago. And he didn't do well in FLA.

?? 60 points last season, averaged 47 points over 82 games during three years. Definitely better than your average UFA signing. I guess Panthers believed that he was just going to get worse but still, somewhat odd move. Florida needs cap?

Will he get 2m$ contract? Because if he does, Panthers could've saved 666.7k$ in real money total and 1.333m$ on the cap for next two seasons by trading him to one of the 21 teams they can for free with 50% retained. I guess no one will take him at full cap hit from the waivers though. Or with 50% retained and a late pick or something. Somehow this seems rushed.

Is Florida just purging itself of wingers now? With Marchessault, Smith, Jokinen and potentially Jagr all gone, who else do they have after Huberdeau?

Jussi Jokinen has been really good when playing his first and second
full seasons with new team.

Dallas 05-07 : 33g+74a=110pts +10
Carolina 09-11 : 49g+68a=117pts +6
Florida 14-16 : 28g+78a=106pts +23

for Pittsburgh his first (and only) full season
13-14 : 28g+39a=67pts +17

Jokinen depart really bad for Florida, but really good for whom ever gets him

Wow, Jokinen is still playing really good hockey. Some team is going to be thanking FLA for this.

Two years ago-- yes , but his centre was Trocheck and R Smith on hot bender season
Last year- major drop off on speed/skill set dipped/perimeter player

Florida will be replacing him with much better option in top 9. His two way game and hockey IQ will be missed, but that part of his game was even overrated.

Don't bring up shootout's. Barkov, Huby, Tro and others all replaced him two plus seasons ago.
