With Jurcs gone, I believe we can call someone up right now up front. We don't have a scratch up front I think. Who would you guys call-up? I personally want to see some Chevy, more Bertuzzi, Nosek, kind of want to see Frk get a chance, Lorito has been good, and hell getting Callahan an NHL game would be cool to see for his work in the A.

the one thing I don't want to see happen is Svechnikov joining this train-wreck

other than that i'm okay with pretty much anyone

It's still NHL games with real leaders in the dressing room. Anthony Mantha is up developing fine. I'd be okay with Martin Frk up full-time and some of those guys rotating up for a game here and there. If we trade Smith, curious if Russo gets a look this season.

If they do call anyone up from Grand Rapids, it will be Nosek, Bertuzzi, or Lorito. Frk and Callahan would have to clear waivers as the Wings would want those two in GR for the Griffins playoff run. Bertuzzi has already had a look in Detroit earlier this season. Lorito has not had a chance yet and the Wings had to battle several other NHL teams just to sign him this season, so I would think this would be a good time to see what he can do in the NHL. Nosek would also be a possibility as the Wings would have to decide what to do with him for next season. Good on PK and leads Griffins on PP points and above average on faceoffs. Skating is much improved from last season.

I would like to see Callahan get a chance in Detroit, but I do not think that the Wings will give him that opportunity (at least not this season). Frk is pretty much a PP specialist just like Pulkkinen was. He scores goals in GR (scored one tonight) but he can not skate and takes too many silly penalties (took one again tonight).

Would love to see Frk. He worked his tail off in preseason and looked good in the exhibition games.

I wonder if jurco will be the next Patrick Eaves. Give him away only to have him outscore the entire team a couple years later.

We might get a 1st for Smith, defensemen always get a ton at the deadline.

A 1st for Smith? Not a chance... There is no possible way we get a 1st round pick for Smith. I don't even think a 2nd rounder is realistic. I guess we will see, but if we get a 3rd for Smith I'm happy.

I wouldn't bring up Svechnikov. He's been hot in GR, let him keep playing an important role there. We have guys like Nosek and Frk who should get the call before Svechnikov. They are older, and I thik the organization should give them games here to find out if there is a realistic chance either of them can be an NHL player in the future. They're both somewhat running out of time. Personally, I'd call Nosek up, but I would understand Frk as well. Lil Bert and Svech will certainly get their chances in the future.

I wouldn't mind giving Lorito a game or 2 at some point this year.

Thinking again about Jurco he's only competing with Hinostroza and Tootoo for a spot. It appears he'll start immediately with Hinostroza sent down. I guess the Hawks can use him. Amazing. No matter he's a warm body with 2 seasons worth of experience in case of injuries- I wonder if that was a consideration.

Pretty sure Martin Frk and Mitch Callahan can come up, and be on the roster for 9 games and under 30 games before having to hit waivers. Besides, Martin Frk has cleared waivers once this season already.

Tomas Nosek likely is on the opening day roster next season. He got called up this year, last year of not needing waivers, and looked good last year in the NHL. He's a guy that should replace Drew Miller.

Matt Lorito doesn't seem like a long-term thing to Detroit to me. I mean, he didn't get called up last year by Jersey despite playing really well, and just kind of seems like another AHL vet to me. Kinda seems like a Andy Miele.. Grand Rapids is a powerhouse team. They've been stacked since the Calder championship. Top tier AHL veterans, legit AHL coaches (Blashill/Nelson), and serious specs coming in and out, earning time.

Pretty sure their Youtube channel has the most followers, twitter has the most followers, etc for the AHL. Sellout every game, yeah? Like a poor-man's AHL London Knights.

Yes. Gimme the Frk.

What is your thing/interest in Martin Frk any way?

If Jurco is a late 3rd, Smith is a borderline late 2nd.

That is a good piece of business by Holland.

Also while Jurco certainly didn't factor much this year, he just hasn't been the same guy since he cracked his ribs against Boston and then the back problem. He was trotted out on Datsyuk's wing a couple times, he was up the lineup at various points. I know they weren't always long stays but this Jurco got no chance isn't completely accurate. It just didn't work here. I wish him luck, I think he is a lot like Panic (a fellow Slovak) who looked to be on the way out of the NHLs before having a great turn around in Chicago. Hopefully Jurco figures it out.

Still great value by Kenny there, I honestly wasn't sure he could get anything for Jurco at this point, maybe a 6th was my thought before yesterday.

Totally gonna give Holland credit here, this was a nice trade. Wouldn't mind packaging this pick and another player or another pick to try to get another pick in the second round. The more chances we get, the better odds we will eventually draft a high quality NHL'er.

Happy for Jurco, he couldn't have asked for a better spot than Chicago. We'll see if he can resurrect his career. He was going to be nothing more than Tomas Kopecky here, good all around hockey trade. :yo:

Kid has elite pun potential. Can't really teach that.

What's his Pun/60?

I hope Jurco scores 25 goals this season and playoffs so people can tell us how bad Ken Holland sucks.

I hope Jurco does well so

1. Holland realizes he needs to give these kids more chances
2. Other teams recognize maybe Wings got some good talent and give us more trade calls and offer better return.
