Franky Boo could have produced on Tampa Bay. Stat watching isn't a good way to compare in and of itself.
Lame excuse lmao

Sergachev is second on Tampa's blueline for points and the 3rd INEC. So Bouillon would've produced on TB but superior dman like McDonaugh, Stralman didn't produce? I get that Stralman got the shaft with Dzone duties but still.

Sergachev created offense from the blueline for them wich they needed badly since they had Hedman and f*** all after..

Sergachev filled their biggest need. To get him they traded a foward they didn't really need when his value was "high"

In Yzerman eyes I'm pretty sure Drouin could score 60 points and he would still feel like he won that deal AINEC

One team dealt from a position of surplus to address a need.

The other team didn't.

I wonder which one we are.

Glad Bergevin got to witness Sergachev’s first, slick playoff goal in person yesterday. Sergachev’s poise, speed with the puck and ability to dominate puck entries is unrivaled for a teenager. Still cannot believe we got him for Drouin, the “center” and your French savior. The hockey gods gave SY a do-over for passing on Seth Jones to take Drouin, which I still cannot understand.

I watched as many games as I could this year: Drouin proved that he is not a center, lazy and a PP specialist. He will always have a ton of skill, will make a nearly impossible dangle or cross ice pass once in a while, but with his attitude and low hockey IQ, he will be nothing more than a complimentary player.

In any event, given your contributions to our roster, I hope that you can oust Bergevin sooner rather than later and turn things around.

Drouin said today that as a Quebecer it was an honour to play for the Habs, shame he didn’t show it on the ice and put effort in

His season overall was disappointing. But the positive is that at the end, when he was put on the line with Byron and Gallagher, his effort level went up. I'd be even more disappointed if he didn't put in the effort when he'd be playing with two of the teams biggest workhorses. Now, the desire is for him not to need to be put on a line with guys like that in order for him to put the effort in. But at the very least, here's hoping that helped put things in perspective for him and he comes in hungrier next year.

He will never be what was advertised, and what we gave up to get him just adds to the irritation.

If you knew then what you know now...do you make this trade? I was adamantly against it from day 1.
It seems the GM never really thinks anything through.
Trading Subban and Sergachev, one a true #1 D and the other will soon be a #1D.

Hey, at least we have a slowing, aging Weber for the next 8 years.

this coming season will be very telling for this kid...

at this point, experience and size can't be excuses. If he's going to be anything close to what he was drafted, we'll see a breakthrough season next year (65+points, or at least that kind of ppg pace).

if he's still in the 45-55pt range, at this point, and isn't able to translate an offseason of dedicated work and refinement into on-ice performance, it will be hard to see him developing further down the road

Did he actually say that? If he did he has no conscience, he mailed it from the beginning of the season and it was very noticeable watching the games. This trade has the potential to be worse than Subban for Weber.

No - just common sense. He was advertised as growing into an elite no1 C.

What? Where was this advertised? I must have missed it because I've never heard that once. The advertising I saw was for a top six forward, which we then decided to try on center. I don't think anyone at any point expected him to be a number one center let alone an Elite one. I try so hard not to get worked up on these message boards but man you guy's throw the word elite around so often. Jesus did you expect him to become Crosby? Because Crosby is an elite center. Or because you guy's throw around elite so often is Crosby now considered a virtuoso megaplex cyborg center?

When I say elite, I’m thinking Pierre Turgeon level. That what Drouin was sold and packaged as. Habs brass marketed him heavily throughout last summer as the new Franco saviour. My memory is clear.

As for your hyperbole - Crosby is the best of the elite C’s

Pacioretty is an elite goal scorer... does that make him Ovechkin? No, but he’s still elite.

You're memory is clear now but not earlier. Now you say and I quote

"Habs brass marketed him heavily throughout last summer as the new Franco saviour"

Which you are correct about. He certainly was marketed and promoted by the Canadiens as a top player who was a home town hero and was going to bring some skill and offense.

What you had previously said and I quote was "He was advertised as growing into an elite no1 C."

So you've changed your opinion which is great because that means we agree now.
