Pretty big slap to the face of Martin and Leivo that they want to get Johnsson in over them...but he's totally earned it.

Johnsson-Plekanec-Kapanen until Matthews comes back is a hell of a 4th line.

The @MapleLeafs have recalled forward Andreas Johnsson from @TorontoMarlies (AHL). In addition, defenceman Calle Rosen has been recalled on emergency basis.

It's funny that we are at a place in this organization where depth inside made us not make huge moves at the deadline.

Dermott made it okay not to grab a big ticket Dman.

Johnson potentially makes it okay we didn't improve our roster depth.

All of the teams around us gave up 1st round picks and/or high end prospects, and we still kept ours and continue to build without rushing. On top of that, those additions that teams made around us still doesn't make them leaps and bounds better than us.

Have to think Johnsson's in the plans moving forward, so it'll be good to get his initial NHL experience. Interested to see if Rosen is able to get another opportunity as well. Has (non-NHL) experience playing the right side.

I’m more curious about Rosen being called up before Borgman

I believe Borgman got hurt shortly after being sent down....Not sure if he is still out or what's been going on with him other then that though that was my first thought as to why he wasn't called up. Though it may just be that with the Leafs basically being locked in to the spot they are in they are taking the chance to dip farther into the depth to see what they have. Specifically with someone like Johnsson who will need waivers next year it seems pretty smart to take a look at him before hand.

Aho is literally carrying the Hurricanes, Marner is behind the HUGE shadow of Matthews in a rather comfortably role. Aho is way, way better AINEC.

I thought Borgman was injured but not sure if he ever got back in.

They needed to call up a LHD, hence why Holl wasn't called up.

I was thinking the call up was to replace Zaitsev on the right side, hence questioning it.

Johnsson will not be able to play the grinding winger role better than Hyman... heck, I wouldn't even be sure that Johnsson is a better offensive player htan Hyman.
