I used to believe that he was a decent ground balance to the overly sunshiny takes from the team employees, but it's increasingly obvious that he's just ....really bitter. Indiscriminately. Chip is such a non-entity as it pertains to the Hurricanes. I don't think I have ever seen him post an opinion. It's just all your Hurricanes news six hours after you get a push notification from the team.

Wow are you sure you've read Chip's articles? He's usually the only guy in the area that ever has insider info on the Canes before the mainstream media finds out. He also posts some really great articles, and is like the only guy in the area that goes out of his way to publish an informative unique articles/stories on the Canes.

Read through his recent Jaccob Slavin article or his "Can the Canes draft picks make it to the NHL?". For the draft pick article it wasn't one of your basic give your opinion on the prospect articles that 20 sites write about. For example he took the time to reach out to Saint John's head coach so he could get the coach's opinion on Gauthier, Smallman, and Booth on what their NHL future looks like. Really great article.

Sorry to be defensive about him haha. But I think he's actually the best guy that covers the Canes that isn't immediately apart of the team like Forslund & Kaiton.

I'm in the same place with Luke. Just reading the headline, you know the article's just a 6-paragraph wet blanket. I can read stuff like that here. Hell, I can post stuff like that here without even needing someone else's input. What's the point of reading it elsewhere?

Mike is fine. In my mind he's basically just a local-level talking head, similar to a sports radio host. As long as he doesn't do an annoying schtick, I'm good.

Considering Doc Emerick is still the play by play guy for the Devils, I'm not sure there's anything to worry about there.

Doc stopped doing Devils PBP in 2011, and has done national broadcasts since.

I think maniscalco is more palatable on tv because he isn't pretending to know anything. On the radio he was constantly spouting crap like "if you're the Carolina Hurricanes you've got to be thinking x y z" and it was usually nonsense. On tv all he does is fluff and "back to you John" type stuff
