Me drinking kool aid.no man ,even on the Forbes profile they said the jets are profitable.Stop with they are not dead last as you were suggesting.
Two things.

First, the original statement was that the Jets are "towards the bottom" not "the bottom."
Secondly, they have the smallest arena in the league, don't charge ridiculous prices for tickets, and collect their revenue in Canadian dollars. They're going to top out in the middle of the league in revenue if everything goes perfectly.

This is a business of hockey board, you've got to at least be willing to look at the business end of things in these discussions.

@dilbert719 what about Norfolk, VA if Atlanta doesn't work?

then we can do this

expansions:que/nor/hou/sea ari goes to kc
bos/que/tor/ott/mtl/det
pit/nyr/nyi/njd/phi/wsh/buf
nor/car/tpa/fla/cbus

chi/stl/nsh/hou/dal/kc
wpg/edm/cgy/van/col
ana/la/lv/sj/sea

not clean but everyone is happen. personally I dislike this.

The league isn't doing an 18/16 split, they're not creating a 6/7/5 - 6/5/5 divisional breakdown, if they were doing a 7 team division, Buffalo wouldn't be split off from Boston, Toronto, and Ottawa, and that third division is genuinely worse than the old Southeast. That's not workable at all in the East.

In the West, you appear to have contracted Minnesota, and there's no way to make a three time zone division make any sense to me, so Vancouver would have to go back to the Pacific, and you'll need an expansion team for Minnesota in the middle division. Then it would be closer.

tor/mtl/buf/det/bos/ott
nyr/nyi/njd/phi/pit/wsh
cbus/tpa/car/nor/fla
chi/stl/nsh/hou/dal/min
van/wpg/edm/cgy/col/
sea/la/lv/phx/sj/ana

another one

This one doesn't have Quebec, and your fascination with cramming Columbus with the Southeast continues to be baffling and a terrible idea. The two six-team divisions probably love this, because they're with everyone they want, but the other five teams in the red headed stepchild division are going to drown from lack of games against traditional teams and weak rivalries.

Other than that, the West is still bad unless the Coyotes move to Kansas City, Vancouver returns to the Pacific, and you slide a CTZ team into that middle division.

The crux of the matter is that Norfolk doesn't actually solve any problems, nor does Atlanta. For the immediate future, what the league needs is to unlock doors in the West, preferably not on the Pacific coast. Once they have Seattle and Houston in the league, and Arizona either settled or relocated to either Kansas City or Milwaukee (either would work), then we can look at the East, but until then, everything's contingent on getting that geographic balance to work.

To the poster that wants Atlanta ,that city is never good with professional teams there.it is not a Sports town in that sense. The Bulldogs are kings there.

Fair enough.
Sorry about Minny, I knew I forgot one. I only sent Columbus there because there simply is not enough teams down their without separating Washington which I think is bad idea.

Town NHL hates !
Is that supposed to be a serious response? Because none of these teams are close enough for bus travel.

As serious response as the league spliting FLP/TBL with CAR and/or not willing to make all southeast teams be in the same division.
Wether you like it or not until the 2013 realignment, those teams were together. In 2013, NHL was FORCED to split them (Jets went West, Caps and Canes to Metro and Tampa and Panthers to Atlantic).

NHL was forced because you don't split the NYR/NYI/NJD (one from each other) nor do you split them from Pens and Flyers (nor those two from one another) and you definitely don't do anything to Tor/Mtl/Ott/Bos/Buf gang either.

There is also a difference between revenue and operating income.

The Jets are ranked 26th in revenue yet ranked 13th in operating income. All depend upon the number people want to throw. The fact is when the team moved from Atlanta to Winnipeg it was a revenue growth for the league and a salary cap growth for the players.

Quebec City would not be in the top 10 in either category IMO, but would be better than a few of the teams currently in this league.

How is a team on every NTC good for the league? What happens 10+ years later when it hasn't accomplished anything because no one chooses it?

As much as Canadian chest beaters hate the south and love their frozen outposts, players sure don't. It's like expecting players to drive a Honda Civic when they can have a BMW.

Player have no choice in where a team goes.Teams win with developing their players and drafing.Signing are not the only reason you win.

Also if the players hated Winnipeg why did they okey the deal for Atlanta to move to Winnipeg.

And in other news, water is wet.

Really not much different than what he said a couple of years ago.

Seattle looks like it's almost a go so yes, see his motives for wanting to go there on many fronts.

For Houston it a all depends on the new owner. If Fertita is not interested or not in a financial position for both....that would be over 2.7 billion for 2 teams.....then Jacobs will long dead before Houston becomes an option. He was officially approved on Friday so we should know pretty soon if this market is realistic.

Quebec? Yeah it's setting itself up as a relo site...could be many options..If imbalance is not a factor...there are 5 different possibilities with varying level of liklihoods....to please the sunbelt crows....there are 2 Canadian cities....and none in Florida on my list:D

uh.......

Water isn't wet. Wetness is a description of our experience of water; what happens to us when we come into contact with water in such a way that it impinges on our state of being. We, or our possessions, 'get wet'.

They didnt approve it, and they certainly aren't choosing to play in Winnipeg.

Face reality that players by and large prefer it in the US. You can't ignore it.

Uhm actually the NHLPA have to approve it as well to the team to move and they will go to the peg .

And it's been a real hot destination, what with two players publicly demanding trades and reports of it routinely showing up on "you can't trade me there" lists.

A place like Winnipeg or QC will never be popular with 20-40 year old millionaires when they can live and play in Tampa, NY, California, Chicago, or elsewhere in the US.
