JvR got edged out by Trocheck, so he continues his fall down the rankings.

Who's the better forward for the 17-18 season?

I'd rather have Tkachuk long term but JVR will most likely put up more points next year (contract year)

JVR will probably put up more points this year because of external circumstances but if my team had both of them, there's no way JVR plays over Tkachuk.

Tkachuk going forward, probably even Tkachuk last season.

Jvr for points easily,
Tkachuk for completeness. Depends what you need.

Edge to JVR, because Tkachuk is a major rat who doesn't know his place yet, and takes a pile of dumb penalties.

Tkachuk will be better in a few years.

You would be surprised on that one.

Jvr will probably put up more points next season, but Tkachuk is worth two jvrs and plays a more responsible and essential game, considering he does things Jvr won't, like 'play defense' and 'hit' and 'bring it every shift'.

You'd argue that the majority of his 103 Penalty minutes last season were good penalties to take?

i didn't mind his penalties, aside from a few dumb ones. ex: Elbow on Doughty.

However, even though it was a stupid play, overall it worked in the Flames favor.

Oh and didn't mind him stealing Burns' and Perry's sticks

Points wise it will be close, but in reality Tkachuk is the better player. His underlying numbers are off the charts.

Tkachuk quite easily,I expect him to improve upon an impressive rookie season likely at least matching JVR's output offensively while being a vastly superior all around player. Would not take Trocheck over either of these guys next year tho especially not Tkachuk.

I think the "easily" stuff is a little much, but uhh remember when analytics types were saying MacArthur/Grabovski/Kulemin were an elite possession driving line? The new version of that is Tkachuk/Backlund/Frolik. Hell of a line. Play killer minutes and do a hell of a job driving play with it. Especially considering the age difference, for one season, I take Tkachuk over van Riemsdyk.
