How is it that only the percentage being paid by NYR goes against the cap ...why doesnt the amount Washington is paying not go against Washington's cap?
...or am I wrong, and it has been applied?

The Rangers are responsible for $4.9 million and that counts against their cap.The Capitals are responsible for $3.46 million but it doesn't count against their cap. However, when the NHL determines the 54% paid out to the players, the entire $8.36 million is counted

Thats stupid. The Rangers should have an $8 mil cap hit because he is on their roster irregardless of who pays him.

Why should the Rangers take a 8 million cap hit when they aren't paying 8 millon for his services? 39 is low enough, no need to waste three millon of the cap when we aren't even paying for it.

So is $3.46 million being counted against the cap for Washington?
