You still have yet to back up your accusations regarding Columbus. I'm anxious to hear a rebuttle, being a fan myself.
It was never about Columbus ... It was about Bettman's New NHL that will have 30 Columbus if it all works out his way ..

There are many worse off teams then them in the NHL because at least they make money and are not bleeding the NHL Dry ..

My point was that how a team draws on the road is just as important as it does at home maybe even more .. You small town fans have to put yourself in Big Market shoes for a second to understand ..

When you go to a Columbus home game it costs you 50 bucks to see your team play Colorado and you get the joy of watching Sakic, Forsberg, Blake even if your team loses .. Then you send Columbus to Colorado for a game and fans they have to pay 200 bucks for a ticket to see their team play with little to no interest to see Columbus best dman Anders Ericksson play against the home team .. You wouldn't like it either if you had to shell out the Big money ..

Now Bettman wants to make Colorado into Columbus in on ice talent.. How does that help grow the Game ??

Even though Columbus makes money they still act like a small market team ..Who is their biggest UFA ?? Todd Marchant ??

Each Trade deadline they trade off their Geoff Sanderson's, Darryl Sydor's etc and it begins all over the next year.. This year there was lots of UFA available and no competition and still Columbus does nothing to bring a name player that would draw on the road.

It does a good job of staying in the black when it comes to business and the books but just recycles everybody else's old cast offs, Anders Ericksson, Lyle Odelein, Jaroslav Spacek, Luke Richardson etc etc .. If Columbus did not give all these cast offs holes they would even be in the NHL anymore ..

So its nothing against Columbus personally .. Its just that they are a team that has very little interest other then to the loyal fans in Columbus and now to make them competitive with the rest of the NHL along with a dozen other teams the Better more exciting teams that have the big stars need to be torn down in restrictive Hard caps so that NHL will lose interest everywhere ..

So sooner or later Columbus has to start acting like an NHL team and compete ,and the way the NHL is approaching it is to not find ways to bring Revenue Sharing to Columbus to allow them the opportunity to buy better players but rather tear down all the other teams so it doesn't make Columbus look so bad on the ice in competitiveness..

Again Columbus is just an example you could insert Carolina or Nashville or Florida or Phoenix and the arguement is the same ..

Or Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton because with the exception of Toronto and to a lesser degree Montreal all Canadian based teams are lousy draws in the US no matter how good a team they have.

Right exactly the reason BETTMAN's league parity is a pile of crap..

But so many people buy into the nonsesnse that making all teams equal with a hard cap will grow the game .. when even good teams have trouble drawing ..

The Ducks have been for sale for the last few years as well, and were just bought for significantly under market value. Any group looking to put a team in Portland would have at least put out some feelers regarding the Ducks, and that never happened.

The notion of a team moving to Portland has become such an empty threat you can only laugh at articles like this. At any one given time over the last number of years, Portland was the rumoured destination for, in no particular order, the Flames, Oilers, Senators, Penguins, Sabres, Islanders, and Coyotes. That's one crowded dressing room at the Rose Garden...

Forthe people that mentioned Seattle getting a team- The Key Arena isn't a hockey Arena. In order for Seattle to get a team, they would need a new Arena. The T-birds play in Key Arena, and it's one of the worst places to watch a hockey game.

Probably better, OKC is drawing 8,200 for a league below the AHL and ECHL quality wise. They're already drawing more than any ECHL team and are hich up incomparison the AHL teams.

They also have a new arena that's NHL ready. Oklahoma City is easily the most prepared city to buy and relocate an existing team.

The sad part of all this is you really believe all this manure! First of all tickets in Colorado are the same as Columbus. The Jackets were in the upper half of the league in average ticket price last year and Columbus adds PSL's on top of those ticket prices. Anders Ericcsen was a stiff for d-man and was dumped long ago. Sanderson wasn't traded, he was loaned and is now back on the team. No expansion team EVER goes out and signs expensive big name UFA's in their first years of operation. They try and build through the draft and establish a pool of players to draw from for the future. To bring in a Kariya, Forsberg or a Hull at $8-10 mill to play with a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners would be idiotic!! To suggest that they are a poor draw on the road because they are a small market is assinine. When Nash and Z are around awhile and the team is a regular playoff contender, they will be a good draw on the road. Chicago is a large market, an original 6 team and yet they are a poor draw on the road because Bill Wirtz is too cheap to field a good team. They can't even draw well at home much less on the road! Using you logic you should like Bettmans plan. With a $35-$40 mill cap, teams like the Rangers & Avs won't buy all the so called stars and they will be spread out among more teams. To think any GM would sign a star player so they will draw better on the road is moronic!

Allowing the smaller market teams to keep their better players will increase their chances of making the playoffs and that's how building rivalries happens, in the playoffs.
