I suggested both. We won't sit him because of the iron man streak, and we can't currently reduce his ice time, because that'd likely give Orlov or TonyD (or both) too much responsibility. Maybe when Chatfield returns, it's something to consider.

Perhaps I should have been clearer: We're not giving him a maintenance day/game (something that isn't unheard of when older players are showing their age) because of the iron man streak.
How many players in the league, age agnostic, get maintenance games when not coming off a serious injury?

Unless the Zona players crap is going to hit the fan with moving/ are tired of losing and want out, I doubt any long term Yote is moving without a serious overpayment. Guys don’t sign in Zona long term and they have to keep there’s. The league will wait until after the playoffs are over to make the announcement to avoid the turmoil. Barring some insider spilling the beans early.

That’s difficult to tell, because many players of advanced age have either:

A reduced role, where being a healthy scratch isn’t completely out of line (Take Statsny for us last year as an example)

or

A tendency to get injured, where even minor injuries could cause them to sit for a game or two. So even if they could play through it, they’re sat out of a game to not only recover from the injury, but to get some rest between games.

The first doesnt apply to Burns, and the second won’t happen because of the iron man streak.

Brent Burns is 38 years old and 3+ seasons away from Phil Kessel's record. He's not looking for an Ironman title; he's looking for a Cup, and he's pretty much always one of the best 6 D we're puttng out there

It could just be that he's big and strong and tough and doesn't like to miss games if he's well enough to play. After all, that's why he's played so many consecutive games in the first place.
