In a standard season we play 82 games about 186 days. That is 0.441 games per day
This season is more compressed playing 56 in 116 days. That is 0.483 games per day.

That is a 10% increase in load. That's a significant increase.

I feel like the leafs should do more load management. Spezza had a game off, Thornton is taking days off. But others on the team need some load management as well, we don't want Matthews, Marner and others burnt out before the playoffs. We have the depth to pull it off without a huge hit to our performance.

Injuries are piling up, they are dictating load management now. The team should take control of it.

How do you guys think the team should handle the heavy schedule to reduce injuries and prepare for the playoffs?

They already have done load management on certain players. You'll see more of it once the Leafs get closer to clinching a playoff spot.
