So much for only wanting to play close to the Metro area!
Outside of basic contract negotiation, leveraging other teams, and simply exercising due diligence in the market... I see no reason why anyone would ever want to be in California in June.... lol

Oh sure lol.

Guy isn’t coming here to play second pp on a rebuilding team. Makes zero sense

Why are you playing this Mr. Hyperbole card lately? It's childish

There is a top 6 slot for Kovalchuk off the bat. There's most likely 1, if not 2 slots on at least ONE of the PP units...

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kovalchuk
Kovalchuk-Hayes-Spooner/Zuccarello (if he is moved then Spooner is the obvious fit here)...

That's our top 6 right now... We look like trash, but we're hopefully going to have a team of hard working, meat and potatoes guys.

There is room for Kovalchuk. He'll also thrive with that top 6, IMO

Well, of course he's going to be looking for a deal that serves his self-interest, but that doesn't necessarily mean the most money. He has made a lot of money over the years and he may be more interested in things like playing closer to his home, playing in a particular system, playing for a contender, etc. Those are all part of the self-interest. It doesn't just have to be about cash. He may very well take less cash from a contender than some other bubble team, or less cash from a team in a particular market than a team on the West Coast or something. Who knows what he'll do. Just saying, I don't think he necessarily takes the most money.

what about what I said is hyperbole?

the guy's biggest weapon is his righty shot on the pp. we have that covered. we are also rebuilding. he's not coming here to play second pp unit on a rebuilding team. thinking otherwise is the only thing childish here quite frankly. you said it yourselves we look like trash. so why would a 36 year old guy coming back to win a Cup come here to play second fiddle on the pp on a bad team?

No need to keep this open as it is crossing over with other threads. At this point is obvious Kovalchuk is looking at every option. Should there be some news that is relevant to the NYR we can open it.
