A part of me is pissed, how could he do this to a fan base that, when he scored his first goal with us, threw hats on the ice in pure extacey of him just being on the roster?

A part of me is sad, because his goals, and more importantly, goal celebrations, always got my blood pumping and rejuvenated my love for this game.

And then there's the other part of me that just laughs, because **** it guys, we're Devils fans, this stuff just comes with the territory.

I guess the only thing left is to proclaim our common refeain, In Lou We Trust.

Honest to god, this is one of the strangest things I've seen in sports history. What compares to this? Barry Sanders? He didn't retire and go play for another league though. This is just so bizarre.

Not even close to being similar to Barry Sanders, Sanders played 10 years with the Lions and gave it his all. He was never about the money, he carried the Lions to the playoffs multiple times. He retired because he was tired of football.

I'm so heartbroken now I feel numb. I don't even know.....l

I loved that player so much, everything about him was so awesome. Now it's all gone. I can't believe we don't have that guy anymore.

And this is also the NHL's fault in so many ways. The lockout. The lockout made him go home to Russia and want to stay there.

I think his point was more about the randomness of it and the shock value it's provided. Both situations are WTF scenarios. Sanders is not like Kovalchuk in any other way. Sanders was loyal.

Zach Parise on Kovy, "I was pretty shocked when I found out. It always seemed to me that he really liked playing in New Jersey.

Yea true. I just can't find anything similar to this that didn't have to do with injuries.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)
Grand conspiracy time (I can dream, right?)

Kovy plays this year in the KHL.
NHL gives us our pick back cause they pity us.
Moments after making our #1 overall selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Lou announces that he has signed Kovalchuk to a 7 year deal worth $35M total.
Bettman is shocked, starts yelling at Lou.. fisticuffs occur and Lou beats Bettman to a bloody pulp.

I'd rather ONLY see the last one happen just because Bettman deserves it.

Should I stop purchasing jerseys?

I bought the following jerseys...

- Scott Gomez (back when he was a legit stud) = bolted to the Rags for $$$
- Zach Parise = bolted to suck on his dads big toe
- Kovalchuk = Thinking he signed a 17 year, I was assuming it was safe purchase... guess not.

(bought a Reggie Bush jersey as well and was let go 2 years later and a Fabregas Arsenal jersey and demanded a transfer to Barca)

Someone buy this man a Volchenkov jersey.

Yes never buy a jersey again please...OR

Go buy a Volch jersey RIGHT NOW!!!

quick, go buy a Volchenkov jersey

no for reelz. DO IT.

10 years is actually a long career for a running back. He just retired before his body was a total mess.

Barry also didn't leave for more money in the CFL either.
