Mark my words. Marcinko will NOT go that high, nor will Frolik.

I am with you with Frolik 2G 7A in 44G for Kladno is not even first round material and an ordinary tournament play. I could also see Marcinko not making it. Do you put Nigel Williams in his place?

Marcinko is the Mike Card, JP Levasseur of this years draft. The player that was rated in everybody's top 10 that dropped BIG time by the time of the draft, but still remained a talented player. He's FAR too lazy, and not skilled enough to show through the laziness. I've been unimpressed, he hasn't made the strides that others have.

I like Williams, but I see Frolik potentially remaining in the top 10, due to his potential, which I see being as fairly high compared to other potential top 10 picks.

Pick your 10. Fill in stats if you have any...

Erik Johnson -- Found Williams, No Johnson.
Phil Kessel -- 30GP, 13G, 25A, 38PTS.
Jonathan Toews -- 30GP, 13G, 8A, 21PTS.

Nigel Williams -- 12GP, 1G, 4A, 5PTS, 27PIM.

Tomas Marcinko -- 31GP, 21G, 20A, 41PTS, 46PIM, +37 (Jr. Extraliga)

No stats for Backstrom, but a wicked ad. http://www.brynas.se/elit/bilder/2005-2006/sponsrad/19.jpg

Kyle Okposo -- 44GP, 23G, 28A, 51PTS, +28, 52PIM, 171 Shots.

Backstrom has 9-13-22 in 42 games for Brynäs IF in the Swedish Elite League with 2 SHG and 3 GWG. He's a -4 right now but his team is 8th out of 12 overall (99 GF, 118 GA). Perhaps most impressive is that he's 18th in faceoffs at 53.05%.

Just for reference, Milan Michalek put up 3-5-8 in 46gp in his draft year. Havlat was 2-3-5 in 24 games. Were they also not first round material? It is extremely difficult to put up good stats in top European leagues as 17 year olds. Neither of these guys have had mindblowing WJC's prior to their draft either.

If you want to include someone else, you could use Rotislav Olesz who was picked 7th and had the following stats in his draft yr 1-11-12 in 35 games. Plus you could factor in his quasi-concussion in the WJC and still was picked top 10. Most Czech senior league teams have the young kids on the 3rd/4th lines from what I hear so its hard for them to have amazing stats with limited ice time.

Frolik has like 2 goals in lots of games. What's the fascination.
Something makes him a lot better than Joensuu in most of user opinions. Still Joensuu has more points at the same level (and in a league which has mostly been less scoring), but most of the users are underestimating Joensuu now...

Both Williams Johnson and the rest of the NDTP stats I found here: http://usahockey.com/ntdp/main_site/main/overall_stats/

No. Name GP G A PTS PIM PPG SHG GWG Pts/Gm
3 Nigel Williams 42 5 9 14 39 1 0 1 0.33
6 Erik Johnson 36 11 21 32 53 5 0 3 0.89

I think Goeffrion could slip into the first round as well as Strait and Flynn.

18 Blake Geoffrion 38 13 14 27 40 6 0 0 0.71
7 Brian Strait 39 2 9 11 62 1 0 0 0.28
12 Ryan Flynn 43 11 12 23 69 0 1 1 0.53

1. Eric Johnson – A franchise defenseman and best player in this year’s draft. Best defenseman to come out of the draft in a long time. I can’t remember the last defenseman this good at his age. He is that good.
2. Jordan Staal – An 18 year-old Joe Thornton. Only 18 and 6’4â€, 210lbs, can skate, score, nothing about to not like. Touch and go between him and Kessel for me. I‘m not as high on Kessel as most so Staal goes here. Staal had a great TPG. Comes from good hockey bloodlines also.
3. Phil Kessel – Most have him as a impact player similar to Crosby or Ovechin. I not that high on him though. Don’t get me wrong he is a very, good player but not a future superstar.
4. Johnthan Toews – Good if not great two way player.
5 . Bryan Little – Underrated by most. Is arguably the top offensive player in the draft. What is holding him back a little is his size. But being close to 200 lbs at just 18 years old, it does not bother me that much. Build like a tank, kind of reminds me of Marcel Dionne. Has Bobby Clarke type incredible balance.
6. Peter Mueller -

Wow some of you guys have been really down on Frolik. Its really stupid how people dont think Toews stock dropped in the WJ's, yet Froliks did? Both had average tourneys, but because Toews is canadian his stock doesnt drop? Frolik may not be dominating, but then name me a 17 yr old guy in the czech league that ever has?

He was misused in the World juniors and rarely do young guys get top minutes in the Czech league. Example of this is Olesz who had similar stats. Guys ranking Little over Frolik are insane IMO.

Also Williams does have a shot to go #10. He is the less talented version of EJ.

Is Williams as good as Komisarek in his draft year?

lol have no idea, as when Komi drafted i was 12 and didnt have interest in hockey whatsoever. Williams is completely different in styles from what i know, he is a big guy and physical. He is one of the risers in the 10-20 range right now, and i could see him go just before #10. IMO he is the second best D in the draft.

One possibility is that Toews is performing outside of tournaments. Points are not a sole factor, but a Top 10 forward should score at a point a game clip unless his league is very low scoring. the thing with frolik is he has 2 goals in like 44 games but does not look good in tournaments. I can't see what justifies Frolik as a top 10 pick. I would take Little in a heartbeat over Frolik at this time. Little has tons of points and seems very much like a Brule. He's doing ok too!
