The NCAA just gave literally every member institution the playbook to get away with ignoring the student half of student athlete.

"Give your athlete fake classes. If you cover it with a little bit of paperwork, we will never ever be able to prosecute you for it."

They'll bring the FBI out if these kids get any money, God forbid -- but if the school gives them no money AND ALSO NO EDUCATION?

Don't care. No1curr.

Death to the NCAA.

The insanity is they're going to get away with it because they involved MORE students than just athletes.

Making the crime bigger, made the punishment disappear.

I seriously hope Congress intervenes, with the ultimate end of declaring the players professional and killing the NCAA. Enough is enough, they're not even TRYING to hide the corruption anymore.

the part that gets me is that UNC fans are literally celebrating the fact they couldn't be punished becuase it's too big of a mess for the NCAA to comfortably deal with

I follow a Carolina fan on Facebook who is extremely intelligent in politics in media. I don't even know the guy, but he was recommended to me as someone to follow because he just knows **** and has a good read on everything.

THAT guy literally said "the haters are just going to have to deal with it".

I mean there are no words at this point. It's a total disgrace.

Well here's the thing - thousands and thousands of athletes across the country wouldn't get into their school if they weren't an athlete, so it starts with the mere existence of college sports. The way it's done now is antithetical to an academic meritocracy. So, I suppose I can't take too seriously the hand-wringing over a few classes, or even a department, that are either too easy or "fake." As Jim Jeffries said (unrelated to this topic), "I think they're forgetting what school was like."

There was always that easy professor, that easy class, or (please, spare me) the easy major. African American Studies @ Duke ring a bell? So very applicable in the real world.....

And yes, I am VERY biased. But I'm also realistic. It's better to be in school, at school, than to not be there at all and have less education than if you didn't even enroll.
