How realistic is a potential Pittsburgh-Nashville Cup Rematch?

We have had 2 Final rematches since the WHA merger: Islanders-Oilers in 1983-1984, Pittsburgh/Detroit in 2008-2009.

A few close calls in that span (Blackhawks and Rangers came close in 2014-2015, but each lost a home game 7 in the conference finals. Colorado-New Jersey almost happened in 2000 as well as 2001)

The Pens and Preds are probably going to be trendy picks to play it again in June.

It’s probably more feasible than the possibility of Pens/Sharks 2 at this time last year.

What say you about a possible 2nd PK/Sid Cub boogaloo?

Not with our defence. We could get past the first round but if we're facing Tampa or Boston I don't see it going well.

How have your goalie been? A hot goalie plus a lot of offensive firepower have led your team to victories before!

The Pens will score on you at will. Hasek, Roy, Price, doesn't matter. However, our goaltending and defense have been by the far the weak link this season. I don't think the Pens have allowed under 3 goals in months.

Don't get it twisted, this squad is a far cry from the 2016 Pens team that cake walked to the championship.

Murray has not been good this season. I would say that he will no doubt have been affected by his fathers passing and the concussion (s'?) he received. But, he needs to step up and be good again.

there's a chance but it's hard. I could either team being gone by the end of round 2.

Maybe I'm pessimistic, but I don't see the Pens going deep this time. Too many issues have popped up during the regular season. The Preds, however, are in a good position. The Jets are only team I see stopping them.

Yeah pretty unlikely.

The pens are NOT playing their best hockey nor have been for 6 weeks. While it's possible they turn it on for the playoffs, I'm not sure I see it happening.

I think it might be the most likely since the last rematch in 2009.

Nashville is easily favorite in the West.

Pitt is defending 2 times champ - favorite in east too.

Anything can happen of course but it's more likely this year than it's been any of the last 10 years imo.

There’s a decent chance, they are 2 of the 5 teams I personally label as “favorites.” Preds have played great all year, they have to been seen as a favourite. The Pens I don’t think have cared too much so far, the regular season has been a necessary evil to defend their cup title, so I don’t think you can read too much into their play.

It has a good chance of happening relative to other matchups, but overall, it's a small chance. The most likely cup showdown is probably Boston vs Nashville right now if I had to guess. I don't see this Penguins team being that likely to go deep.

I don't see the Pens going far at all. Their D and goaltending are very suspect right now. The Preds are very capable Looks like Bruins v. Preds to me.
