The table shows the 8 different combinations for what the goals leader could be based on manpower situations when they scored their goals.

-1 goals leader led in all of ES/PP/SH goals. Wayne Gretzky, of course (in 1983-1984).

-2 times a goals leader led in PP and SH but not ES goals. It was Mario Lemieux in both 1988-1989 and 1995-1996.

-3 instances where goals leader led in SH but not ES/PP goals: 1972-1973 Phil Esposito, 1982-1983 Wayne Gretzky, and 1994-1995 Peter Bondra.

-Phil Esposito led in ES but not PP/SH, PP but not ES/SH (3x), ES/PP but not SH, and SH but not ES/PP in his 6 straight seasons of leading the league in goals from 1969-1970 to 1974-1975.

*goals by manpower type have been recorded since 1933-1934*
