Nope. Hadn't heard that voice clip at Letsgokings. Not sure where they got it from. I'm not sure what to tell you about the Slovene speaker and Slovene TV, but I can tell you that when possed with the rather redundant question at the rookie tourny, Kopitar pronounced it "on-ja". The "ja" sound is a more like "shay" than "zay". I made the mistake of saying "an-zee" to him because I had never heard it pronouced before. He quickly corrected me with "on-ja".

Edit - I just PMed a slovene speaker and she said "an-say", not "ja", "shay", "zay", or "zhe". Now I don't know who to believe. I think next time I am just going to have him write it out phonetically.


Maybe he has a speech impediment:sarcasm: I'd go with how Anze pronounces it.

being a quarter Slovenian :) it is 99.9% An-zhe, if not, he is not truly Slovenian :D

also look at the Slovenian spelling of his name: Anže Kopitar

ž in Croatian as well as in all the languages of the ex-yu is zh
