He's going to end up around 40-50 points and set himself up for a big season next year.
I just really like the way he plays. I still think he's a centre when everything's said and done; but I'm happy to see him on the wing as long as he has chemistry.

I'd personally like to see:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Jankowski - Bennett
Frolik - Backlund - Jagr

I think that Jagr on that Backlund line makes them even harder to deal with in the offensive zone (where they've been struggling this year) and also gives Janko/Bennett a legit threat with Chucky.

I am not sure that Jagr can play on that Backlund line because he doesn't have the speed or defensive ability to match-up against the tough match-ups and zone starts that Backlund-Frolik get.

I think it is looking pretty clear that Jagr is basically a PP specialist at this point and needs to be very sheltered 5 on 5.

I would ideally like to see a 4th line of Mangiapane/F. Hamilton-Lazar-Jagr and then have Hathaway with Back/Frolik. I would also like to see if Tkachuk or Gaudreau could play RW and put him up on the top line and drop Ferland to the 3rd line.

I actually have it on good authority that Bennett is Gilbert Brule 2.0.

Anyway it was nice to see them finally run up the score for once, albeit against a Canucks team that's been decimated by injuries to key players. Would be nice to see them push on now and win something like 7 out of their next 10 or 6-3-1 at least but I'm not holding my breath

Also I wonder what Tkachuk's points tally is against the Canucks. Dude always seems to pot one against them

I don't know if it was just some quick changes, but I think we saw Tkachuk get some reps with Money and Johnny last night. It looked very interesting to me!

We deserved to beat Ottawa, a game we lost 6-0?

Did you watch that game? Craig Anderson stood on his head while Ottawa scored some lucky goals on the rush while our team got frustrated. We play that same game seven times and we win far more often than we lose. We dominated the Sens in that one. Semantics about "deserving" to win aside, that was a game where the luck factor grossly favored the opponent. Which happens. We've won some flukey rope a dope blowouts the same way in the past. But these things are supposed to balance out. They haven't yet. The only other thing to note about thst game was how GG kept going to Stajan Brouwer on the PK, which is still idiocy on his part.

Remember when Bennett was an unmitigated bust that should be given away/waived? Good times those were.

Also Rittich needs more starts. He's very solid and Smith's in a bit of cold streak anyway.

Monahan and Ferland are both ridiculously snake bitten. I feel bad for Gaudreau.

Monahan is a goal scorer, when he is not scoring, there is not much to like. He is a 6'3 guy that is playing smaller than Gaudreau

Ferland is great about 20% of the time, Maybe 30% now. Outside of that he looks like he has a hung over from last night party

This has to be the dickest of dick comments I have read on forums in quite a while.

Sorry, bad words to use considering his history. Dont mean to accuse him of anything, just meant he looked really bad on some of the games.

Everyone has looked bad in "some" games. Gaudreau has been our worst player in some games. Monahan is on a 5 game pointless streak despite Ferland and Gaudreau producing over that stretch. Versteeg was our worst player for the first dozen or so games, by far. Hamilton hasn't seemed to have had a good game all season. Jagr has had games where all he does is make offensive zone turnovers and take penalties.

That's hockey. Calling one individual out for having off-games is ridiculous. Yes, when Ferland is off his game, it's noticible, because he's a key puck handler tasked with getting the puck to Gaudreau under control in stride. He's carrying pucks in, which you need to do on a top line, where he could be dumping the puck and going for a line change, which would prevent him from "looking bad". Making that exit pass from the side walls is a very intricate play that he executes regularly, but when he doesn't execute it, it looks bad because it's a lateral pass in the defensive zone. It doesn't help that his center is not strong with the puck on his stick.

Don't let optics confuse you. When you play a possession style of game, you're going to make make "obvious" mistakes. Those "obvious" mistakes "look" bad. That doesn't make them "worse" than "simple, forgettable mistakes". The eyes are a mirage.

Wouldn't pull Hathaway off that line yet. He's enough of a wrecking ball that he's creating chances by being chaotic.

Putting Jagr with the Backlund line is a good idea now and then, but I don't think Jagr has the ability to play those hard minutes full time. Let him play spot duty on the PP and 4th line, get him his 50 games to get the statistical lead, then make him a coach like they did with Lowry in '04.

Hathaway is basically doing for Bennett and Janks what Hyman does for Matthews. Neither are good enough that they SHOULD be in that role, but they make it work. However, I feel like Tkachuk could do the same, and better.

Flames will win this game to keep up the pattern of inconsistency and so the coaching staff can continue to lie to the fans that we’re on the right track.

“Yeah, we needed this one tonight after the BAD LUCK we have been dealt lately. Nice to see the results come after sticking to the system and see some guys get rewarded”. Flames will then proceed to win the next game as well, then lose the following 2. Par for the course.

Yep, called this one perfectly. We are consistently inconsistent.
